Have you ever showed up to a recording session with something other than a Fender or have you ever imagined showing up to to a recording session with something other than a Fender? What was the engineer or producer's reaction or what would you imagine the reaction would be? I bet it would be pretty bad and there would be yelling and medieval weaponry involved.
Please share your experiences / imaginations.

No, but I've gotten requests to bring my P Bass...which I always do anyway. That and my Laklands. Engineer/producers/singer/songwriters are definitely becoming hip to Lakland.

I showed up with a Schecter. Project was cut early and was never finished. I also didn't get called back.

Actually once the word got out that I had two P's a SVT and a B-15 clone preamp along with access to a J, they just came to me and recorded. It's been a blessing. They mentioned flats for a quick minute.

I showed up with my Thumb NT 4. The engineer came out from behind the desk and went back to another room. He quickly returned with the Producer. In unison they calmly said "get out".

I play G&L exclusively L2500s fretted and fretless wired passive with full coil tapping. The engineer I worked with plugged me in direct to the console. Now mind you this is also a serious collector of all things vintage Fender, Gibson guitars, basses, amps you name it he most likely has at least one of them.
Anyway he plugs my L2500 with Fender flats direct in and we start to record. When the session is over I say that some day I would like to own a pre CBS Pbass and he says
Your G&Ls have some of the best sounding bass notes I ever recorded. Pre CBS has nothing on you pal. Then he tells me when he interviewed Leo Leo told him that if he had not sold to CBS the L 2000 and L 2500 would have been the new Precision.
So I guess in reality I went in with a Fender after all.
