Showing off your ankles in long pants

What I see more often is young male hipsters rockin' their grandma's flower print shirts. Stuff you wouldn't want to be caught dead in is now cool again. So are 'carrot pants' which were at one point considered to be the epitome of bad taste.

I'm still waiting for bellbottoms to make a comeback. Already got the oversized mutton chops.

Another teacher at my school does this. I think he’s in his early 30s or so. Has a beard and errythang. Rolled pants and wild socks.

The kids compliment him all the time. So, if that’s what he’s after, good for him. Most of the rest of us don’t get it, but then I’m not claiming I’m hip either.

I switch to shorter pants in the spring time. It’s almost 100 degrees in the sun here already, so I don’t need an extra couple of inches of material bunched up around my ankles. Also: if anyone is going to see my socks, I am going to make sure they look cool. But I will most likely not be wearing socks again until fall.

What's to not understand? Fads are fads.

Some cool kid somewhere does something weird with their clothes or their hair and then other kids copy it. The look spreads like a virus from ground zero until all the cool kids are wearing the fashion.

At some point, the look becomes so common that the uncool kids are doing it, at which time it goes from being cool to being conformist and ridiculous.

The fad goes away and the cool kids look for a new fashion to adopt.

I remember this discussion as far back as the late 1950s. I think people should dress however they want to. I also believe people should be allowed to find it ridiculous or cool or whatever they want to.
To add to that for the younger folks here, in 30 years you will look back at what you wore and what your hair style was and feel a flush of embarrassment.

For me, I just don't really pay any attention to how long my nails are until they start making string noise when I play. I also hate the feeling of playing bass when my nails are too short.


A woman I dated briefly a few years back commented that I had the longest nails she had ever seen on a man. I pointed out how I didn't like the short nail feeling while playing and she got that.




These days, my 9 year old granddaughter gets upset if I don't have long nails.



Damn kid's in my lap 3 times a day saying, "scratch my back!". These nails are here to stay I guess......

It's getting tougher and tougher to ask a question out of simple curiosity around here without people thinking you're annoyed, or judgmental, or ranting, or whatever. You don't have to "care" about something to be genuinely curious about it.

When i was in 7th grade the rage was brown and tan suede saddle shoes with rayon socks, black with a design just above the shoe (the wilder the design the better), worn under kakis or straight leg jeans, rolled up to show the socks when walking. We called em flood pants. Always ready for high water.

Uh, stopped halfway through the second post. What amazing strain of weed have you guys been smoking under just how huge of a boulder it is that you've been using as your AWOL zone?

This thing has been going on for way over a decade. 2004ish? It's only just recently dying down some.
