Shuttle 9.2 vs Streamliner

Well, I got the Shuttlemax in today! Oh yes, thank you very much Genz Benz, you've been successful in helping me keep my AE212 which I was going to sell for another AE112 because I wasn't digging the sound with the streamliner or F1. This Amp is perfect with the AE212 and my AE112. It was everything I hoped it would be, warmer than the F1, but cleaner than the Streamliner, right in the middle, just perfect! The ultimate test, and the one that many amps fail, was the upright bass test. Thankfully, this one passed with flying colors. Great job Jeff and Co., a homerun with this one!

Just ordered the Shuttlemax 9.2 and an Uber 410 (4ohm) cab.

I've been using the GBE 1200 now for a few years and absolutely love it. I decided to go with the SM9.2 over the SL900 because of the tonal flexibility of the two channels (FET/Tube), as I switch between the two for different songs and sonic feels...the SM9.2 has a similar front end to my GBE 1200, and it's about 1/6th the weight!!

At some point in the future, I will have a Streamliner as well though...

VERY interested in your thoughts on the GBE 1200/SM 9.2 comparison. I've had my GBE 1200 for over 5 years now and love it, and my SL 900 is a perfect compliment to the snap of the 1200.

I can't speak to the 9.2 but the 9.0 tube channel and the tube tone in the Streamliner are night and day. Though the 9.0 is much rounder and warmer than any of the other micro amps I have tried or owned.

The difference that may be there with the 3DPM is the low end heft. As I understand it both the Streamliner and the 9.2 have the 3DPM, it's the other Shuttles that do not have this.

That being said my Shuttle 9.0 is capable of slamming in a real hard way and plenty of bottom booty.

The shear amount of brute force, power, and bottom end these things are capable of reproducing are miles above any of the other Micros.

Unfortunately Genz attempted to take the hi road with volume levels/taper. Unlike the MarkBass amps, having all the taper in the first half of both the input and master volume controls. This is a way of fooling the user that these amps have more than they do. They run out of steam, hard limit, and hard clip at anything past the half way mark.

Dime the master on any of the 900 watt Genz amps and watch your speaker cones hit the wall on the other side of the room. :eek:

Hook one of these babes into a 4 ohm 2x18 sub cab and the amount of volume is deafening (at half on the master). The other little micros will not do this and most will go into protect mode as the 4 1/2" voice coils dip the ohms rating well below what the amp can take.

Life is seriously good using these Genz Benz amps. Such a pleasure. :):bassist:

One of my test set-ups is a pair of JBL SRX-718's. Pretty nice sounding box for bass, even just the 18's, if that's your flavor.

I do hear a significant difference between Tube and Fet pre's. Recently tried to get a S9 to get that clearity of the S3 I was a/b'ing with.... impossible !

You can have the FET 9 in the Smax 9.2. I definitely prefer it to the tube channel alone, but overall dig mixing the 2 channels the most. Having said all that, I'm sticking with my
M9 and the 9.2 is FS

I would not have believe it had I not heard it with mine own two ears.

I had to use a Yamaha 2x18 sub cab for rehearsal one day. The amount of mega bottom and volume was just insane. This was with my 9.0.

I can see where some folks having one of these Genz Niners in a small cab, comparing it to one of the other amps, with the fake bump on the level controls would think what is the big deal.

Put one of these babaies in a massive cab that can take all you can pump into it and you start to begin to understand the real difference between the men and the little boys.

My mileage doesnt vary at all - i'm still waiting for the Shuttle 9.1 FET

If that one ever materializes, no hesitation on my side.. for sure !

The PHAT is Proprietary Heat Abatement Topology IIRC.

I believe it is a very efficient way of heat removal from the power amp module. Thus delivering above it's design specs.

IMO not that much difference between the FET and Tube channels to warrant a separate model.

i am trying to decide on a SL9 or a SM9.2 with a GB Uber 4-10 4 ohm cab. unfortunately the music stores near me except one dont carry GB and they only have a SL9 but no GB cabs. i play a MM sterling HS4 and i am looking to get a Lakland 55-02. the 2 bands i play in both have keyboard players. the amp i have now is a SWR super redhead, while i kinda dig the sound i turn off the tweeter and use a goliath jr III underneath with the tweeter off too. i really was looking to cut some weight since the SWR rig is heavy 80+ for the combo and 50+ for the 2-10 underneath. any help would be greatly appreciated got my tax money and want to get the gear before i end up using it on something else.

I would go for the SL9 it's rounder and fuller, seems to me that from what you say that is the sound your looking for.
