For me, I just love how every rage quit thread descends into 20-30 pages of hilarity. I have received at least a half dozen infractions over the last decade, I think I even got banned for a few days once 4-5 years ago when I called MajorMetal a troll. (sorry dude! it was kinda true at the time!) No need to get all binchy about it. I acted outside the house rules, TB said: "hey, don't do that". End of story. The rules are pretty simple, and VERY clearly stated. If you don't like them, that really isn't TB's problem, nor should it be.

There should be a sticky thread for returning rage quits so we can all say "Welcome back!".

Welcome back, your dreams were your ticket out. Welcome back, to that same old place that you laughed about...

I'm so disappointed. I never have got banned or even infracted for anything. It's a sign of old age, lack of immaturity and the fact that you can, indeed, be too old to rock and roll. That leaves a rage-quit. Except that the clouds need yelling at so I can't rage-quit here until the clouds get whipped into shape. Things have never been so bleak.

I still have the capacity to be surprised by people thinking their "free speech" rights trump the rules of a privately-owned forum. Not true.

Besides that, even if you ARE in a place where freedom of speech applies, there is no freedom from the consequences of that speech. Say what you want, then pay the penalty in social censure, being ostracized or otherwise negatively impacted.

Even the most upstandingest Talkbass citizen (me!) once got an infraction. I "bumped" a for sale ad a couple hours before 24 hours had gone by (evil, I know). No warning, no nothing. A full blown infraction. I bent over, took it, and not only am I a better person for it, it turned me into a born again Christian.
SHOCKING!

Here ya go my brother :D

"I don’t aim to please, only to love. Got more purpose than to be in the club. Are we fighting fire by burning out? Giving in by turning down? I’ve heard it said, “Man, what’s the use? You’re too different for our open views.” When did acceptance become a game? Here’s your check to speak more of the same. We don’t work for...we don’t work for them! We don’t work for...we don’t work for them! Let the world swallow your pain. Make ‘em suffer so they don’t forget your name. Man up and show ‘em you’re not weak. But the toughest thing is turn the other cheek. I have no interest in living a lie. A firm foundation is where we die. To gain the world, yet lose your soul, seems kind of a shame to just follow the mold. We don’t work for...we don’t work for them! We don’t work for...we don’t work for them! We’ll never work for...we’ll never work for them! We don’t work for...we don’t work for them! "

We normally don't discuss a user's infractions, but since you brought it up...

On 8/22/2008 you received a warning - a zero point warning, not an infraction like you stated - for not following the bumping rules. No points = warning. This was obviously a traumatic event for you, counseling may be warranted.

I really wish more people understood this.

About 200 million other people in this country fail to understand this as well. It's strange, because I don't remember anyone being taught that as a child.

I'm proud to say that I got banned on another unrelated forum about a year ago. Best part is that the ban came from a member of this forum.

I got a couple of infractions here, but I really felt they were unjustified and I fought (and won) to keep my clean slate. All I have working against me on talkbass is my quit, which if I remember correctly is documented early in this thread.

FWIW, talkbass is the best forum on the planet. I've been a member of a handful of different forums, and I am certain that if I ever need answers to ANYTHING, this is the place to go. And if someone here doesn't have the answer, they'll know the best place to go to get it. I think this place is awesome.

That being said, what is the proper past (and continuous) tense for the word mic, as in, "I miced my amp with an SM58?" I'm in the middle of writing something that calls for proper English, and MS Word is at a loss on that one.
