I have tried to figure out why someone got banned before and it's hard to do. It's almost as though Harvey Keitel gets called and removes any evidence (offensive posts, etc) as soon as the hammer comes down.

I think it would act as educational to leave evidence behind so I know what not to do. Like a chalk outline of a body just outside of the crosswalk.

I understand that, but I can't imagine too many folks getting the ax based on swearing or innuendo; most people here are familiar enough with those rules. I have a hunch that most bannees toe the line too often or are offensive in some way towards another.

I guess I just find it weird if I log on and see "banned" under someone's username and no recent posts left behind as to why. Maybe it's just a way to keep us in line. I don't need it. Whenever I come close to posting something questionable, I picture John Turner's avatar and instinctively hit the back button. Something about that guy's arm vein snapping back in Cat People pops in my head also.

Since we are talking about lists, we should have a list of those who have publicly quit (and of course ragequits) because that we can know who came back. There is an old Joe Nerve thread somebody linked once where he goes on about leaving talkbass, he is most definitely back.

The banned list would be nice, it would clear up some confusion (at least for me) I thought it had been a while since I saw a bluewine post.
