...It's not too often you hear a right wing viewpoint on a musician forum...

The old MARS Bbasement subforum on ProSoundWeb was a wonderful place for ideological debate fun. Being an artist's forum, the Progressives had the Conservatives outnumbered by about twenty to one, but what a hoot it was. Many of the posters on both sides were very clever, persuasive, and articulate, and the bloody knuckles, biting humor, and hysterical satire was addictive.

I know for a fact that it stayed open so long because the post-count and users-on-line traffic in that subforum was pegging the needle every day. It was eventually shut-down when it got too intense for the Powers that Be though... PSW made a decision to not let the no-holds-barred mudsling detract from their mission to serve a respectable professional community.

It was a lot of fun while it lasted, though. I miss it. :)

I understand that, but I can't imagine too many folks getting the ax based on swearing or innuendo; most people here are familiar enough with those rules. I have a hunch that most bannees toe the line too often or are offensive in some way towards another.

I guess I just find it weird if I log on and see "banned" under someone's username and no recent posts left behind as to why. Maybe it's just a way to keep us in line. I don't need it. Whenever I come close to posting something questionable, I picture John Turner's avatar and instinctively hit the back button. Something about that guy's arm vein snapping back in Cat People pops in my head also.

Us mods assigned to TB Minitrue keep busy. Remember, 2 + 2 = 5!

I think we oughta start a memorial wall, say out of tasteful granite or similar, to be placed outside TB headquarters to memorialize all TBers lost to both Banhammer and Hissyquit.

I just fear you'd be able to see said wall from space, and that da'Gov would think TB was then going to add a moat.

Is there a wall in the Modatorium where all the avatars of the fallen are mounted tastefully on plaques to be used as hat racks and conversation starters?

I can't believe I'm coming in so late to this thread........ I quit.

I've always wondered why that is? What makes musicians drift to the left? I'm left handed but still pull to the right.

Otoh the automotive forums I frequent are largely right wing.
The first forum I spent too much time on was dedicated towards mustangs and leaned right. I don't think that automotive interests intrinsically have to be conservative, but generally you'll find people who have negative views of environmental regulations if nothing else, which probably carries over into forming a larger opinion on the role of government.

I am saddened the OP was unwilling to pull himself up by his bootstraps when challenged by a system he felt was leveraged against him, I thought that was the espoused plan.

I kinda liked TwoFingers's posts. It's not too often you hear a right wing viewpoint on a musician forum. I'll miss you, TF.

You haven't noticed this before?
I can not begin to count the members that have a right leaning view that have been piled up on by the left leaning "intellectuals" that try and shout them down.
They all have ether left the site, quit posting in OT or have been banned because they went off the deep end after being ganged up on.

Myself, I learned to just stay out of OT threads. There are plenty of other forums here to hang out in where morals, beliefs and political points of view have nothing to do with the subject at hand.

Funny that. I would say the mod team gets complaints about political stuff about 50:50 from both sides. Some folks with right leaning views think there's a bias amongst the membership here to the left, and vice versa. Both sides think they're the persecuted minority. Both are equally daft, in my opinion.
