Silverburst Thunderbird

so I really don't know if I'm getting the chromed out one or the one with the black hardware. Did you ever see the blacked out one in person or just in pictures? I'd still really like to know if there were two runs of them or if they put them together with whatever happened to be on hand that day. I really hope it is the chrome one.

they NEVER made any with the black hardware. that picture is very outdated, but they decided to keep it for what ever reason. all silverburst Tbirds have the chrome hardware, etc.
i guarantee there was never even one of them made with the black hardware. but for some reason people seem to think other wise....like that dave guy...:rollno:

Hey Everyone! Newbie member just joined! :bassist:

I saw the thunderbird IV in the ebony color last night on Conan O' Brien's show. He had on the band 30 seconds to Mars and the bass player was playing it. I fell in love with it IMMEDIATELY and then I saw that it was available in the silverburst and almost died. I know this is special ltd edition according to the Epi website, and I called customer service and that was a waste of time.

So....does anyone KNOW before I start making tons of calls if places like GC or MF can STILL order the silverburst? I can't find this color online to save my life :bawl: and the wifey is getting me a new bass for Xmas. Sweeet!

Any help would be appreciated. You can email me or post on here.

Thanks

Thanks to Moonshine, my much anticipated silverburst 'bird was waiting for me when I got home from work. It is dark, deep, and beautiful! The neck and pickups need a little adjusting, and the action is a bit high......but man I can't wait to push this thing full tilt through my rig!

So how does it sound? I got a nice setup done on mine and put a set of new Elixir's on it. It sounds ok but still a little on the bright side. I'm having trouble dialing in a tone I like on my amps but it has been fun playing with it.

After a month and a half of really trying to like the silverburst thunderbird I have decided that it just doesn't fit me. :( I really love the looks of this bass but the ergonomics just don't make it very playable for the way my body is built. I am thinking I will sell it. I got a professional setup done on it and a new set of Elixr strings which I really like. I also bought a cheap hardshell case for it. I thought I would mention it here before I went to the classifieds because I know a few of you following this thread really wanted one. PM me and we will talk about it if interested.

Ya I sent mine back awhile ago too, pups were horrid.......muddy and dead.....

It's not that with mine. When I play sitting down it's fine. I can pluck the strings farther forward between the pickups but when standing up with a strap with my build and arm length my hand naturally falls farther back and I end up plucking farther toward the bridge and I don't like that. It doesn't feel good to me.
