I'll pre-empt the thread by saying that I am a relatively newcomer to the DB. Having said this, as regimented as the Simandl book #1 is, out of all the music that I have seen thus far, it is the book that, again as a newcomer, I am getting the most value of. You can hear pretty much hear staight away when the intonation if off, when the timing is wrong, or when you are not bowing correctly (depending of course on how far in the book you are)...I must say, I am a big fan.
