This thread inspired me a couple of months ago to record my top 10 Derek Forbes era Simple Minds bass lines. Highly debatable of course
As those (often minimal) bass lines flourish in context of the song's arrangements I recorded backing tracks to go with the bass parts also. It kept me busy for a little while.

You did an absolutely AMAZING job with that!!! Great song choices (many of my favorites) and killer playing. Another huge thumbs up for the backing tracks! Awesome, awesome, awesome. Derek has been one of my favorite bassists since the mid 80’s…yeah I’m old.

I recorded this follow up to my Top 20 Simple Minds Bass Lines (nos. 10 - 1) video from last year. Including backing tracks.
Second and last episode of my tribute to Derek Forbes, whose bass lines inspired me a lot when I started learning bass guitar somewhere back ik 1984.

Ranking these bass lines is kind of arbitrary. Today's no. 12 could be no. 7 tomorrow and vice versa.
