Simple recording package idea help

Hi guys,

I know there are two threads running on both of the subjects I would like to ask about, but they do not cover them and I dont want to hijack the threads so here we go.

I would like to put together a small package to take along to a jam session or simply record some ideas at home.

I have a laptop I would like to use (fairly new Toshiba w XPpro) I need an idea for a simple soft and a 2-4 track capability of input

I ve got may be 200$-300$

find basically any interface you want, they usually all come with software.

200-300 is gunna be a hard bill to fit, i can find an interface that kinda matches it, like these:

Then you would just need some condeser mics (probobly 2)

Look for the Alesis io|2 interface. Two channels of either XLR or 1/4" input via USB, and the package comes with Cubase LE. Seems to match your needs. However, you can't use Y-cables and get to 4 channels, as both inputs are mono.

I have one so if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask.
