When I was a kid, we'd carry our double cutaway basses back and forth to school in the driving snow uphill both ways...and, damn it, we liked it!! (the preceding has nothing to do with the question)

Dammit…now I need to dig up my Gary Numan and Thomas Dolby cassettes!!If the whole singlecut vs double is about neck stability, I submit to you....

Cool Paint Job.Here's me with my very first (From Scratch) build from about 35 years ago. Back then You couldn't search the internet for ideas. You couldn't seek out demand for a Single-Cut Vs Double-cut basses or even which color for that matter. I had to "Troll" people face to face but interestingly everyone I talked to at the time like my ideas.

No there is no discussion just a repeat tired old thread that has been beat to death since the first SC bass showed up.Translation: I have nothing to add to this discussion so I'll just shoot my mouth off.![]()
An overgeneralization thread...is it a fad at TB?
How many cuts does a carrot have?
Now I just want to know why @paz was banned![]()
From observing some famous and not so famous TBrs, ignoring moderator requests to modify your content to meet TB rules over a period of time can eventually get you banned. It's pretty easy not to get a permaban if you're so inclined.i don't know --- i don't know why anyone gets banned. i don't think it's ever shared with the larger group. public shaming should work here, don't you think?![]()
Actually, there has been a few great replies. No there is no discussion just a repeat tired old thread that has been beat to death since the first SC bass showed up.
I play Thunderbirds. What I think looks and feels correct isn't an indication of what normal people think.Personally I think single cut basses look unbalanced, whereas double cuts look correct.
Wait! Someone please post a picture of a single cut bass.I had no idea anyone was making such things. If anyone needs me, I'll be under my rock.
There are lots of single cut styles. Les Paul guitar or Hofner Club to an Elrick. What would a Hofner 500-1 be considered? Zero cut?Wait! Someone please post a picture of a single cut bass.
Apparently the picture in my mind is not that of others.
Thanks.
I never had the chance to try one, but the electronics are intriguing. I wonder how close it is to a Ripper.I play Thunderbirds. What I think looks and feels correct isn't an indication of what normal people think.
I don't know. I have never played a Ripper. The pickups are humbuckers. It's not a speaker blower like old mudbuckers were, but it gets pretty thick and powerful. Better to have the power and dial it back than want it and not have it. Lots of things are like that.I never had the chance to try one, but the electronics are intriguing.
