Single Cutaways - love the look / hate the look?

I love / hate the look. I have an Alien Audio Lunar that I like the look, but when the bass looks like a humpback whale, I dislike the look.

unless it's a Jazz, Precision or a Telecaster bass...they all look like guitars to me.

Not crazy about the look myself, I really don't like the whole exotic wood coffee table bass thing anyway, but in my limited experience with them (I have an RBass single cut) the extra neck stiffness seems to give a slightly compressed sound and feel that I don't hear with more conventional designs. Don't know, might be just coincidence ...it's very comfortable to play.

I love them, but I am very finicky about how an instrument hangs and balances when I play, and have since gone back to focusing on traditional double cut instruments. In my experience, the location and angle of the upper bout (and strap button!) is absolutely critical to the ergonomics of a bass, and is just something that seems easier to get right on a double.

Are those (semi)-hollow with kinda f-holes in the single cut? OR is that just a groove?

Those are indeed F-holes above a chambered upper bout. When I did some experimenting, the added weight and pull on the upper strap without the chambering would have been just too much otherwise. I tried to hollow out as much as I could while still maintaining structural rigidity along the neck join (these are bolt-ons) and around the perimeter of the body.

Guys, a lot of you are posting what is the equivalent of nothing more than "those are ugly." We don't allow ugly bass threads here. As this is an opinion thread and someone is asking rather than singlecut haters bursting into a singlecut fan thread and spreading hate (which is trolling and would be treated as such), this thread can stay open and you can share yours and your dislike for them if you express yourself in a respectful and intelligent or descriptive way. More poorly thought-out posts will get it closed though.

That's one of the ones I find attractive, there's a logic to the design.
