Single Malt Scotch!

You might be the only one. The 10 is a nice malt, but the quarter cask is on another level in my book.
Alright, you idiots just cost me money... AGAIN... the local store had one bottle of the QC in stock... had to pick it up. I'll see if I have a pref, as I still have plenty of 10 at home. :)

Woah, ok, I just did an A/B of the Laphroaig 15 and Quarter Cask (I lied... I thought I had the 10, but it was the 15). Wow, what a difference. Totally different animals. The QC isn't nearly as spicy and rambunctious as the 15 right off the bat, but it's got a big finish, and the initial phase is smooth and sweet... deceptively so.

Bottom line is, I can't pick a favorite, though I don't really care to, so that's ok, but I'm really glad I picked up the QC today. REALLY nice!!

Dang, Vic! You may have helped talk me into buying yet another bottle! :spit: :scowl: :help:

But then, I guess you did owe me one or two... :p

Thank you for the input, I will be picking up a bottle of QC in the near future (i.e., the moment work calms down) then! :smug:

Haha, hey hey now fellas... Although "heretic" may describe me rather accurate at times, I still Keep my apartment stocked with Oban 14 and Lagavulin 16 for my varying ends of the spectrum neat drinking...

When I say I'm picking up a bottle for the weekend, it usually means something in the black label ballpark...And there is nothing wrong with 3-4 cubes of ice sitting in a 3oz pour of a moderately priced but still very drinkable blended scotch. My palette may be relatively refined and picky for my age(a ripe 24), but that dosn't mean I can't spend a weekend destroying it every once in awhile! Har har!

Cheers,

-Grady

It's funny, I used poo-pah the use of ice in Whisky, but I came around to the fact that even though it may dull/kill some of the flavor it it works for you then go for it!

The only two things I am against would be the adding of soft drink mixers to Single Malts; use a blend if you have to - and calling Whisky 'Scotch'. Of course, I say that as a Scotsman (notice no 'ch'!). The only things Scotch in my book are either tape or eggs, but then again maybe I should just accept that this is the way of my new country and assimilate!

Yeah, and you know you're a real nerd on the subject if you know the difference between whiskey and whisky right off the top of your head. :D
