Single Malt Scotch!

I didn't drink much scotch lately, mainly beers. I did however have a nice glass of HP18 on my birthday while spinning some of my favorite vinyls.

Also, when I'll have a bit of liquidity floating around I'll get myself a membership to the local whisky-scotch club. I checked the description of some of their last events and it's very interesting to say the least.

I know it's a blend and verboted in this thread, but I already demolished the beer thread with my insolence today so why not! I went to total wine last month and just got the cheapest, decent sounding scotch I could find. Got some Old Crofter

It's pretty good! Kind of honey-ish but not too sweet. I had some Balvenie 12yr port wood at a friend's house and it reminded me of my crofter.

Didn't know there was a scotch thread. I have been nursing the same bottle of Laphroaig 10 for about 2 months--too expensive to blast through. But man is it tasty. My first foray into single malt and I am totally in love with it.

Yes yes!

When I was reading/asking around for recommendations people kinda warned me off of peaty scotches, but I disregarded it and bought the Laphroaig 10 which is considered to be peat-heavy. I'm glad I got it because that flavor is what makes it great to me.

Tony, keep an eye out for Ardbeg Corryvreckan too. I keep both on hand all the time now.

Laphroaig and Lagavulin are a couple others that will probably appeal to you as well.

+1 I like a very wide variety of scotches, but keep coming back to the peaty Islay's as my favorites. Among those, the Lagavulin 16 just feels like "home" for me. :cool:

Not filtered, so it's got way more texture but not so good over ice. (But if you're putting ice in single malt you might as well drink the cheap stuff anyway). No added caramel so it's a lot paler and more honest tasting.

Here's the ones I can get, two of those are not caol ila per se.

If I go in Ontario I can get the 12y.

I'm however currently saving for a car so no new bottles for some time. I have 7 or 8 I'm nursing at the moment anyways.
