and when I dont buy a Z7 what strings wont I put on it?
Here's my rec for you. The P5 is now available in fretless. It's an all maple neck and board. Cheaper than the Z7 and you will get more out of it than just getting another fretted 4 string. Trust me on this one. Either you will gain 20% on your playing ability within a couple months or you will curse me and sell it for not too much less, since it's only $540 in the US, possibly cheaper over where you are.

Has anyone tried the new Sire Marcus Miller V6 5-string yet? It's supposed to be lightweight (as far as I have understood they are "chambered"), and I really like especially the OTB color combination. At €750, it's practically screaming "buy me!" as a replacement bass for me.

There are also some YouTube Videos online:

Is there any information in a more detailed view to read regarding the built in Marcus Heritage-3 Electronic and the Marcus Super-J Revolution Single Coils?

20% of nothing is nothing unfortunately

I have a new Z7 with the revised neck pickup. SIGNIFICANT difference in tone, especially when centered on the blend. Panning over to the neck has the same strong output now and great tone (and hum cancelling)
Thanks @LowEndLobster
Could you do / include some sort of Z3 vs Z7 (only on Bridge pickup) comparison to see diff in Bridge pickups between the two?
Or just simply give some sort of comparison here? Easier!
Please

I think i did that in the Stingray Retro vid with some other Stingrays, at least with the old Z7 (or maybe I just did the Z3 in that i don't remember). I'll do a comparison with the update :)

You did indeed!

Finger: Z3 @ 7:54 Z7 @ 8:45
Pick: Z3 @ 9:25 Z7 @ 10:17
Slap: Z3 @ 10:56 Z7 @ 11:36

but, after watching the rest of that video I have decided to go for an EBMM Retro 70's Stingray

Just bought a used V7 2nd gen. Happy! It feels really great but oh boy is it BIG! Doesn't even fit on my stand well. I was prepared for neck dive but gladly with a strap there is none.
I was very impressed with the action but didn't notice that it was set to basically 0 relief (.0015 / 0.04mm - not .015) and the bridge pickup has over 7mm distance to the strings due the action being dialed very high there as the neck is very straight. I'm pretty hesitant to set it up again as it plays super well with low action, superb intonation and zero buzz, but it seems only the neck pup is really usable now and I wish to have all the tones available. What a weird setup, only hoping it's not intentional and you can't get a good setup normally! I wonder if it's even safe to relieve the truss rod from that tight back to .012 range. At least I will probably have to take days to let it move. I don't think I'd have the nerve to tighten it back up if it doesn't work.

It wasn't tight! The neck is just very straight so it was barely doing anything. Added some concave bow (.012) and did a nice setup without any problems. I still have almost 5mm distance on E at bridge pickup but I guess it's normal (it does not go any higher) and action is as low as it can go. It has hi mass bridge. Plays beautiful. Love it!

Found this used V3P, barely survived shipping as box was open on one end. Driver had me check it before he left.
Put a set of Gotoh's on it, adjusted the truss rod, added a thin shim, lowered the bridge and cut the nut slots down. Came with a like new set of Cobalt flats.
Took it to fedex and weighed it. 8 lbs. on the dot
Balance on a strap is perfect and I couldn't be more excited.

I don't have a U5 (yet). Big question for U5 owners- regarding the binding and the position of the right arm. Does the U5 have any rollover? Or does the binding require that the top is flat? I have looked at a lot of pictures and can't tell.
Profile is a little like Fender aerodyne ones. Not really a arm chamfer but more comfortable than a real flat top with binding. Perfect for me with my position when standing playing.

I don't own a U5 but AFAIK the current model in mint does not have a binding, in contrast to the other colors. The contour looks rather "edgy" nonetheless...
