Yup.. Got both!

Both sound great. The V7 is a bit more versatile and sounds "sweeter" in the upper registry. Tone sounds a bit more compressed up there but in a good way. Love the smack of it. A lot more low end in the preamp and higher output. Never boost the mids but might "carve" out some freq. I don't want.
However Love playing my Fender MM aswell. Same "topic" but still different.
Also no hum from the V7.

Major purchase decision...I am considering selling my trusted Fender Jazz V American Standard (passive) for a Sire Marcus Miller V. Based upon all the great reviews I have read on Talk Bass, you guys really seem satisfied. Problem is I can't get my hands on a Sire to get the "feel" of it. The Sire bass website is very thorough in explaining every detail, and the price of this bass is really a "lowball". Can anyone compare a Fender Jazz American Standard V "passive" to this new Sire bass by Marcus Miller ? I have alot of respect for this trully great musician. I can't see him placing his name on a "fly by night" or "cheap Fender copy". The Sire Jazz has so much to love, and the fit and finish is really appealing. It is tough to sell a "real" Fender Jazz American Standard V for a "pie in the sky" hopeful. I would be satisfied if this Sire bass could compare at least on an even scale with a "true" Fender Jazz. I would like to enjoy the active electronics, and pick a beautiful Swamp Ash body with a maple fretboard. Please share your thought and experiencies from the comparison of the two. I really want to be convinced that I am making a good purchase decision. :)

Hello guys, a couple of days ago my Sire V7 4 White Blond ash-maple came with the gig bag. The gig bag has at least $50 value here. Not bad at all. After trying my new Sire V7 4 White Blonde, overall the value of its bass might be over the price it has. The only bad thing was that the 2nd day I played it & I moved the blend knob to one pick up clockwise, it happened to be dead/ silent/ no sound at all. It happened twice and I had my bass tech changed the cables connected to the pick up inside. He said that it's not done neatly. The cable is somehow a bit fragile. Now hopefully it's not dead anymore. Still wait and see for that. I informed this to Mickey Cho and he told me to send it back to the factory. Btw it's not bad at all for the bass, but the gain power/ thickness of the sound still couldn't surpass my Carvin SB 5000, speaking of that both are using 2 batteries/ 18 volts. Overall sound I still love my SB 5000. But Sire is great for a back up bass for me.

How dou you like your new Marcus Miller Bass from Sire ?

I used to have a Fender MIA P5. This has the same neck as the Jazz.
Alto high it was too long ago to make a direct comparison here are my thoughts.
I came from a Lakland 5501 and never really felt 100% with the Fender. The neck just felt a bit slower to play. I've since had a couple more laklands and still feel the same.
When my V7 arrived I immediately felt at home. The Sire neck
Its not the same radius as the Laklands, much closer to the Fender, but it feels faster and just easier to play.
Probably not much help, but I wanted to post that anyway.

It probably would be a good idea for you to read others' opinions as my Sire is the most expensive bass I own. So me saying it's the best bass I've owned doesn't really mean much. BUT I still WILL agree with almost everybody that has reviewed one here, that if someone didn't tell you the price, you could EASILY believe that it costs more. resonant, the sweepable mid control makes the pre super flexible, AND they put enough thought into it to give you a passive tone control as well (helpful for when you play it passive!). I have no complaints and the only thing they could have done to make me like it more is make the neck a little chunkier, just a smidge... not a complaint at all, but I do like my SX necks a little better. Of course, YMMV.
