I've totally wondered about these. In fact, I've wondered why most strings HAVEN'T been balanced tension for as long as guitar strings have been a thing. Seems kind of like a no-brainer, but what do I know...

I'm definitely wanting to try them. Are they any harder to find or priced higher than the other sets where you are? I'll have to see if the local shop stocks them. Thanks for sharing!

Hi there, I prefer playing mostly without slapping and i want more balanced tones.
Which sire bass should i go for? Rosewood fretboard/Alder body or Maple fretboard/Ash body?
I am worried about getting untamed trebles with Maple/Ash combination and i dont want to get only the Marcus Miller tones, need a bass more versatile.

For some reason i dont get email notifications any more, so sorry for the late reply.
My band seems to be in a state of limbo these days. Me and drummer want to push forward, the others are happy not bothering doing anythin got help get gigs etc, so we are getting rid of the singer as soon as we can. If the guitarist decides to leave then the band will disband. I would like to continue playing but not sure i can be bothered looking around. I dont drive so have always been dependent on the drummer gibing me lifts etc.

Getting back on topic, i really love the bass with the balanced tension stings on it, it feel so solid and easier to play. only minor issue i have is fret buzz on the lower f# on the E sting. Ive checked the fret level and it seems ok. Ill just fret a bit harder when i play that note.

On a more positive note, i have two sire bags coming to me in the UK. Sire have bent over backwards to sort these out for me. I plan on getting a M3 in a couple of months so both bags will get used.

Hey again guys and gals. I'm a bit bummed to find out that my otherwise amazing M3 has settled in with a bit of an issue: I have a fairly nasty back-buzz on the E string when fretted at the 6th fret, happening at the 5th. :(

I raised the relief to about 0.5 mm (measured at the 8th) (it was initially ~ 0.3 mm) and that still didn't do it. I'm guessing the nut was cut a hair too low. It does seem quite low - the bottom of the E string definitely sits lower than any of the others. Can I rule out a high 5th fret or low 6th? Wouldn't I have forward buzz at the 4th or 6th otherwise? Argh, I lose my tech confidence when it comes to fretwork - not enough experience and a fear of making the delicate balance worse...!

Has anyone else had a back-buzz issue on their Sire, or any experience in diagnosing and remedying this kind of issue? What's the skinny on the best way to add some height back to a too-low nut slot?

I appreciate any advice! Thanks.

A quick remedy that used to work for me , was using a little bit of kleenex/tissue on the nut slot. But that's just a temp fix.
