I swapped out the stock XLs on my V7 with EXL 170 BT (Balanced Tension) 45-60-80-107 - and this was a massive improvement. It's a revelation to have all strings at a similar tension, you realise that with most sets the D and G are stressed way higher than the E and A. However the original tone of the instrument is preserved as they are still D'Addario Nickel Rounds.
I've totally wondered about these. In fact, I've wondered why most strings HAVEN'T been balanced tension for as long as guitar strings have been a thing. Seems kind of like a no-brainer, but what do I know...
I'm definitely wanting to try them. Are they any harder to find or priced higher than the other sets where you are? I'll have to see if the local shop stocks them. Thanks for sharing!
