Aww Nuts!! Changing strings on my V7 today and noticed a chip and crack in the fret inlay between 8th and 9th frets. Upon closer inspection it looks as if there is excess glue / resin on the inlay and the chip is directly under the A string. I have definitely not knocked the guitar as I am extra careful with it. I have attached a video and would be interested in your thoughts.
Sorry to hear that - wondering have you tried contacting Sire and seeing what they might be able to do for you in that situation (cover cost of repair/replacement options, etc)?
I'm not sure what specifically their warranty covers, but I would contact them regardless and inform them of the issue.
It's a $400 bass. I would just deal with it. With strings installed I'm sure it would be hardly noticeable. JMHO
I have put a call in to Thomann (their UK distributor) so will update status after that. To be fair it doesn't effect how it plays but I know its there..
You are right it is a $400 bass. As I said above it doesnt effect how it plays. Will wait to see what Thomann have to say..
M7 CONTENT
Interesting, the brown color M7 which I have (ordered 1st day) is no longer offered.
"BRN" has been replaced by Brown Sunburst (BRS) (the old BRN photos no longer on the site). This image has the new Brown Sunburst color, in the third frame down (sorry, I could not conveniently separate out the image of just the one bass).

Yup, got a receipt, even. Haven't heard from Mickey, but hey, I assume he's one busy dude as always.
I'm order #11807 - wonder whether that's world-wide or just US? Either way, we're coming up on 12,000 Sire basses out there somewhere!

Well, I'd love to hear how you like your fretless M7 fiver when you get it. I bet it'll be awesome, but until I start spending more time playing the fretless 4-string mongrel I have, a fretless five is out of the question.
I can't justify it given my current skill level, really, but hey, makes me happy, and will be lots cheaper and more effective in the long run than Abilify!

I assume the M7 fretless fingereboards are lined, like the V7's?
I would guess, but I admit, I don't really know. Eager to find out, but I'll have to be quite patient, it'll be a while.
Sorry to hear that. If you go with a repair / reimbursement route, it shouldn't be expensive to repair. Good luck with it!
I've had the m7 for a month now and have used it on several gigs first of all it is a little smaller and lighter them the V7 which I also have The build quality was flawless I lowered my action just a little bit and it was off to the races. As you already know the preamp is powerful plus you get coil splitting which gives you a phenomenal amount of control. It will do all the sounds needed to do but even better you can develop your own sound very well on this bass If you already have a V7 this is a great upgrade for you I highly recommend it
I assume the M7 has the same excellent high fret access as the M3? (Well, maybe you haven't tried the M3.)
I haven't tried an M3 but they look very similar re: access to the upper frets. I do feel like the M7 has good high fret access although I have seen some other brands where the 24th fret seats a little farther out so that there's less body involved in getting there... but I have zero problems or concerns about upper fret access on the M7.
