My first reaction is just WOW! It is amazing quality and I can already tell it sounds fantastic after a few hours of noodling. Indonesian made if anyone is still keeping track lol.

Probably not all that much-- I would expect more bass and treble from the ash\maple configuration, but more low-mids from the alder\rosewood configuration. This is largely-academic, though-- changing your strings has a more significant effect on the overall tone of the instrument than the tonewoods will.

Ymmv, of course...

Yes, I was/ we were talking about M7 at 8.5 lbs. Other poster was thinking we were talking V7, it looks like. It def has more than one switch as you alluded to, @jlepre... 3 in all ...active/passive, 3-way PU selector bridge, 3-way PU selector neck. The switches dont bother me at all, I like them in fact, so much versatility, and the active switch is in a better place than on V7.

I have two V7s, one alder, one ash, both weigh in at 10.2 pounds, certainly solid, but not too much (for me) - about average for Fender Js. My M3 weighs 8.4 if I recall, hoping the M7 will be in that range as well.
