It was Invalid Link RemovedYou should be able to get a used Euro5 (Or NS-5CRFM) for around $1000-$1500 on a good day. Spector people will tell you to stay away from the LXs because once they moved away from the solid maple wings the "classic" Spector sound went with them. But to each their own. (Mine is a 1999 NS-5CRFM; that thing has been all over the place and I could never part with it).
Price wise, you're probably correct. I wouldn't worry about any brightness; if you go with the Alder/Rosewood model it's pretty even. Ash/Maple is a little brighter in my opinion. The good news is (like some other people have said) if you buy it and hate it, you'll have absolutely no problem selling it for near what you paid.
It felt great and I dug the EMG preamp in it. He was willing to go super low on it, but I clutched and someone else bought it. Oh well.
It does seem like the Sires are keeping their value. With as many as people seem to have purchased, they are not common on the secondary market.
