I have a couple of questions for the "collective y'all". They're probably more appropriate for the Technique section, but it specifically involves a possible Sire purchase in the future I'll keep it here, if you don't mind.

I tried my hand at a five-stringer (Squier Deluxe Active Jazz V) a few years ago, but try as I might, I couldn't get the hang of it. It happens…such is life. Years later, one important factor I've discovered about my ergonomic preferences is the fretboard radius. I can handle a vintage-style board far better than the much-flatter Squier Deluxe and it's 7.25" radius is one of the big things attracting me to the V7. With that in mind, here's my questions;
  • Has anyone who previously had a block, ergonomic or otherwise, regarding fivers been able to overcome it on a Sire V7?
  • I'm also considering getting a single DR Black Beauty B-string to act as a visual aid until my muscle-memory helps me adapt to the extra string. Has anyone ever try this little trick? If so, how did it work out?

I did not have a block, but you should be aware that the string spacing on a Sire V7 5 string is closer than on a Squier deluxe 5 (which I also have) and that adds to making getting around on the Sire easier also.

Yeah, I remember that. Just a dot over two inches…wide and flat enough to land commercial aircraft on!

I understand why the V7 is marketed as bass for beginners, but it is really a pro bass for a working bassist of modest means. A lot of people have had their disposable income drop since the Great Recession. I know I cannot do things I used to do. Sire offers true quality at a great price, and it is clear that the market for this bass is huge.
I was so close to getting one, I sold my SR5 over the weekend, was enough cash to get a V7 and have money left over, but now has to go to fix a rear main seal in my truck, an $80.00 part and $1100.00 labor, and no I'm not a mechanic. ARRGGHHH !!! Jim

Hello. I have been searching for possible flaws, and i am a bit worried because it is obvious that with such a demand Sire guys feel tempted to cut corners... I have one ordered and is set to be delivered after 10/2, so i am afraid it wont't come so perfect than the first series... what you think? Peolple hwo got recent deliveries have anything to say? (sorry for my english... i'm from Portugal)

Dude im in the exact same boat and mines literally just ordered. I would love to know how many thomann have on back order right now :-)

So after a few months with my V7 and since i have a little down time I've taken it to my favorite repair shop and have some work done.

Specifically a full set-up, fret level and lower the nut slots a bit. I've been doing adjustments and different string types and guages but still couldn't get it to where I like it. Not that it wasn't good as is, but this work will make a world of difference in playability, and the tech was excited to see a Sire first hand and liked what he saw.

I'll share the results when I get my bass back... missing it already :nailbiting:
