So it looks like i am goingto order a r string. Didnt read much about the m3 though. Any recomendations between m3 and v7? Thanks

Guys, but i'm the only one that think that these basses need heavy fretwork?
i have tried 2 miller 5 and both have this problem...fret buzz in the central area of the neck,especially on the g string..
neck straight but the buzz not go away..
it's impossible to have a low action...
i would buy this bass, but this issue stopping me

Yes, that is the case. I paid $54.00 for it not that long ago, but Musicians Friend is selling it now for $79.00...a big price increase.

You can't expect perfect fret work on a bass in this price range. I had some fret buzz when I had my action where I like it, so...i finally took it to 3rd coast and had a complete set-up plus a fret level and the nut slots lowered. Now buzz gone, action is low 5/64 G 7/64 Low B at the 17th fret..Plays like butter.Guys, but i'm the only one that thinkthat these basses need heavy fretwork?

It was probably on-sale at that time. I pounced on an SKB Soft Case (actually a poly-foam construction) case that way.
That brings up a question; Would the people at SKB be able to verify a good fit if you gave them hyper-accurate measurements? They do have pretty detailed specs on their site already. I might be worth sizing them up.

One other thing, I bought a RoadRunner PolyFoam to protect my Fender Aerodyne. At first, it was just a little too long, but soon enough the lower strap button moulded it's shape into the case. Now if fits all super-snug-like! Guitar Center usually carries them in-store, so it could be possible to do a fit-test. If the lower button rests on the foam, but the body looks like it'd fit with clearance for the headstock, you just might have a winner after a little bit of work.
Hi everyone! I have got my Sire V7 5-stringed bass (ash, natural colour), singned, #536. I played about 20 gigs with this bass. I gave it to my local guitar tech, he has made some work with it - regulating the hight of magnets to fit the shape of neck, and fretwork (it buzzed on 17th fret). Strings now are Elixir Steel nanoweb (45-135). So, i have mostly positive impression from the instrument - i like very much the flexibility of sound, how the bass looks like and feels in hands, i compared it to Fender Jazz bass AmDeluxe 5 ` 2010, the basses are slightly different (weight, shape of body), but as for me, Sire is feeled not worse than that Fender. But my bass has, how it is called, dead spots (?) on 7th fret of D string (B flat) - low sustain note - and strange vibrations of body, it is feeled when play unplugged, also B flat on 3rd fret of G string sounds a little bit strange, compared to neighbour notes, and note D on 3rd fret of string B has very little sustain - this all make me upset, looks like i did not win in a dead-spot-free-bass lottery. Also, i will try in some time some light strings, or a light B string
My V7 arrived and due to travel schedule I haven't really had the chance to plug it in play it. I've literally only been able to open it, take it out of the case, hold it and fiddle with it acoustically. But here are a few initial observations of the build quality/feel of it. I plan to play it tonight and will provide more observations then.
Preface: If you look at my profile you will see that I have owned a ton of basses ranging from lower priced instruments such as G&L Tributes to Brubaker Brutes to MIM Fenders. I have also owned many different mid and high end instruments such as F-Bass, Ken Smith, MTD, pre-Gibson Tobias, Warrior, Roscoe, Sadowsky, Pavel, Elrick, Peavey Cirrus, G&L USA, Lakland 55-02, Carvin SB5001, Warwick, Dingwall, Ristola, etc. And I've owned multiple specimens of pretty much everything on that list. Also owned some odd balls like a Mayones Jabba Jazz bass and a Human Base. I share this information so you can see some of the competition the Sire is up against.
The Sire looks great... for the most part. The body of my particular sire is made of three pieces of ash. That is sort of a "cut corner". Higher end instruments are typically one piece or two piece bodies. I can't really see the seams unless I'm looking for them but still this is a sign of a lower priced bass. There is also noticeable neck dive. I do like the thinner body, especially compared to Fender counterparts which have always felt like boat oars to me. Just big and clunky. The Sire feels much more streamlined. The neck is great. Quite thin top to bottom. I like the radius a lot. I personally like gloss necks but if you don't you'll want to sand the neck of your sire. The block inlays look very nice as does the binding on the fingerboard. Fit and finish is great. Nice tight neck pocket. The neck on mine seems capable of low action though I will know more after I get to play it plugged in. I like the string spacing a lot.
The neck pickup on mine won't raise as high as the bridge pickup. Not sure why. I might have to take the pickguard off and see if it is stuck somewhere. Not sure if I like the bridge yet. Need to adjust it more.
My first reaction is that it definitely is a nice instrument. It definitely feels like a more expensive bass. Is it a Sadowsky killer? A Fender killer? A G&L, Lull or Lakland killer? I'm not sure yet... but I'm open minded. I am impressed with the build quality though. If it weren't for the three piece body I'd guess the bass was more like a $1,000 - $1,200 instrument. I need to plug it in and put it through its paces before I can really give a definitive comparison statement. More to come. Stay tuned.

I just got my V7 back yesterday. I did a complete setup plus a fret level and lowered the nut slots too. Also the tech told me he used more foam under the pickups to raise them( this was an issue I noticed too). I invested another $110 in work to get it to my liking, same as every other bass I've owned from Squiers to Smiths. Looking forward to your impressions

OK. I have had a chance to play the bass for several hours. Here's my take on sound and playability. The bass is capable of pretty low action. Fretwork is pretty good. I don't really have any complaints there. The bass sounds fantastic. There is a ton of tonal variation in the preamp. Huge low end if you want it... more than anybody should probably ever use. I like the mid range sweep feature but don't find a lot of the positions all that useful. I pretty much found the sweep range I like and boost the mids a little and call it good. I do really like the tone control though. That's really where its at. Dial in your eq and then just sweep the tone control a bit to perfect your tone. Very nice. The knobs and pots all feel quality. It balances quite well for me on a strap though there is some neck dive though better on a strap than in a seated position.
I think these things are really incredible. Especially for the money. They feel and sound like a much more expensive instrument. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that when you consider the price I'd take one of these over any Fender Jazz I've ever played/owned (including MIM and American Fenders). Is it a Sadowsky killer? For the price conscious the Sire is an incredible alternative. I don't know what can touch it in its class. I think Sadowsky's play, feel and sound fantastic. But they are a LOT more expensive. Of course with Fender or Sadowsky you are paying for a brand name and any clout that goes along with that. But for sound and playability you're right in the game with a Sire.
Anybody considering a Sire should try one.

I ordered an alder 5 string last Saturday (10-3). Anxious, but have to be patient. Est ship date is Oct 25. 
My alder/rosewood Sire V7 is scheduled for delivery on Thursday. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I'll post impressions after I get some time with it.

If you still have the FBass in your avatar it will be interesting to see how you feel the Sire compares to the F. I've owned a few FBassees (BN5's and VF5's) and I like the way the VF5's feel the best. They balance so well and seem lighter than the Sire's. But WAY more expensive too.
Oh yes, I still have the F. Not planning on letting that go any time in the foreseeable future.
