Well the deed is done with the fretless order..hah...stoked once again....and now..... the patient kick back and wait for an awesome instrument to arrive! :) Looking at my previous order #'s, and this current order #, it looks like they are making about 5-6 hundred instruments a month approx....for what that is worth....so be patient kids and let them do their thing and from my experience you will be well rewarded!

I took the plunge after reading so many positive reviews and ordered a Sire V7 Swamp Ash Maple 4 string in White Blonde. Only had it a day but WOW what an amazing piece of kit for £320!

Since I was hoping to get mine for Christmas, this year I'll be celebrating the Orthodox date of Jan 7  Jim

Glad I did, as most pics of the bursts seem to range from 'a little too red' to 'much too red' for my taste. The ones that are more brown look fantastic but I didn't want to take a chance
I'm still wondering about that, but I guess I'm just lucky to have received 2 tobacco bursts (one fretted, one fretless) that are more brown than red.

About how much do these basses weigh and do the 4 strings only com with a 1 1/2" nut?

The current Jbass (V7) is about 8.5# (from what I have read) average depending on body wood.
All V7 4s have a 1.5" (38mm) nut. The M3 also has a 38 mm nut.
Sire is toying with the idea of a Pbass, so it should have a wider nut.

Yeah, I'm puzzled by the apparent inconsistency. Some of it may be differences in cameras and lighting. For example, the burst pictured on the previous page looks almost completely red in one pic and more golden/orange in another. But I think quite a bit of variation in the bursts is real since some owners have even described theirs as cherryburst and I'm just not a fan of red. Perhaps just the nature of bursts in general results in some variation within any manufacturer's products.

I've got a few bursts - the LTD PJ fretless in my avatar, a Squier VM P fretless and an SX Jazz fretless. Of the three, the SX has a bit more red than the others but not nearly as much as I've seen with some of the Sires. On the other hand, the grain on the SX is either extremely well matched or it's one piece. Better than on a lot of expensive basses.

I'm sure I'll like the black. My most recent bass purchase was an Ibanez Talman and I had planned on buying the black and tort one but the example in the store wasn't to my liking and I walked out with a mint green one, which I'm loving. So the Sire should fill the black and tort void nicely!

Had a little fun with my v7 in passive mode the other night at practice. We're having to use a sub vocalist for a new years eve party so we're in the process of finding out what songs of ours work for him and which ones don't. We hacked our way through "Cumbersome" and I propped up my iPhone 6s on the amp and let er rip. Anyhow, for everyones amusement I put it on youtube and posted it here. Amp was a GK 400RB through one of the 1st gen Eden 410 cabs. All the filters were off, bass and treble were flat with a little boost to both the high and low mids and the boost circuit was around noon.

Good tone what strings are you using also ?

I know there aren't too many guys/ gals with the M3 basses but it would sure be nice if you all would start a separate thread for that bass, PLEASE !! It's tough to wade through 80 pages of V7's. No offense but I already have a half dozen hot rod Fenders of both types, with a variety of Preamps. So please start a new thread for those of us who are interested in the other cool Sire bass. Im particularly interested in the 5er Thanks in advance.

I think all you do is start the thread, I don't think anyone would object to an M3 specific Sire M3 Club thread. I would do it, but I'm not much of an organizer, if folks are expecting club threads to be handing out member numbers and such, you really don't want me running the show. :D
