Here's mine. Modded with Jockomo inlay stickers, flats and a classic pickup Precision cover from a '63 CS Fender.
I really love the Dakota red body finish but hate the toasted maple neck feeling and look, not my linking at all, so the bass is unused since the purchase.

I'm curious - Have you modded the pickguard with a cover, but not actually removed the plastic cover (where the "2nd generation" sticker is attached)?
I absolutely adore roasted maple necks, both on my Sire and on other guitars and basses I've played, but that's just personal preference.

How is the bass? Any feedback and / or more pictures?Sire P5R came from Thomann today and I'm impressed. Pretty light at 8.4 lbs. The roasted neck feels great and has some thickness to it. Solid fretwork, much better than Fenders I've played recently at this price point. The pickups aren't bad and have good output. Going to throw some LaBella flats on it later to see how that thump sounds.

I have a MIJ Squier Strat (1991) that is in Torino Red, another name for the very same color.
Fender currently produces an Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster also in Torino Red.

who disliked how Sire is using Roasted Maple. That bass seems like it would be an easy sell, on Reverb or something. In the ad maybe tell them that you love the RM...?

Has anyone played both the P5 and P7/P8? Does the P7/P8 in passive mode have the classic P sound? I was thinking about just getting a passive P, but I'd love have the passive P bass option and also have the bridge pup and preamp available when I want it. Plus, I prefer jazz neck anyways.

The P7 has an excellent neck, but it's not a jazz neck. It is thicker than a jazz neck. But not as thick as a Fender P.
My p7 neck was very narrow, with the rounding of the edges it felt much narrower than the 38mm, 1.5 inches. My Fender jazz neck felt wider in comparison, but I think mostly because of the lack of rounded edges.
For clarity, I was referring to front to back width, not side to side.
How hard were the inlays to line up well? I'm really considering ordering some and getting my P pickup in Ivory.

I'm just trying my new P5 for the first time right now… I don't know how in web videos people have gotten it to sound so "polite" Out of the box it sounds like it needs a Peavey TKO... and a lot of volume.
The P5R is great. I've taken it to a couple practices and will bring it to a gig this weekend. I put flats on it and it can really get some 70's P bass bark with the tone up halfway and digging in.
I'll prolly put this over in the Mseries forum too, but surprised this went a whole week on the bay without a bid... go git it.

Are the rolled edges easy to notice when you`re playing? I have the "original" maple neck P5 and the rolling are very noticeable (in a good way).
