So far from the few MIC V7's that guys have received I can't tell them apart from Indonesian ones.
China does have good manufacturing facilities too, so I wouldn't be concerned if my Sire was made there.
Heck even the MIC Fenders I've seen are nice.

I should have been able to guess about the MIC thing - I knew about the Dame connection going in and it was the basis for my excitment about the MM Sire model. I don't know the full extent exactly of what Marcus' input included, but some of the Dame models (Sanctus v900 model I think it is) are at least externally nearly identical to the V7. I just didn't know Dame had a China factory. I tried very hard about 7-8yrs ago to obtain a Dame bass guitar (in part due to Andre Berry's tone and other Dame bass tones I was seeing & hearing on YouTube) the tone of the Dame basses had put me on a mission to obtain one. They just weren't available here in the US. So, really it makes complete sense for Sire to start using their parent company's Dame/China factory as they grow - there is no doubt Dame can build outstanding instruments. If Marcus himself chose a Dame-based instrument as the starting point for his signature series instrument, I'm sure there was good reason. So no worries here - if by chance my next Sire V7 is MIC, I will of course A/B it thoroughly against my Indonesia V7 because they've set a very high standard already, but knowing that it is coming from a Dame factory rather than a random outsourced factory commissioned in haste is actually very reassuring to me.

So I just took the plunge after weeks of reviewing every video and bass test on the Sire V7's... Can't wait to play my 5 string NT when it ships sometime in January. And wouldn't you know it, right after I ordered this one, I already have G.A.S. for a fretless.

The first report that some of the V7s are now made in China was posted here less than 48 hours ago. It sounds like you may have been aware of this before that. Which 'guys', other than Charlie Blue, do you know with MIC V7s? It would be nice to know which, if any, of the earlier posts and pics are basses from the Chinese factory.

As far as I know, the only confirmed pics of a MIC V7 were those posted by Charlie Blue, whose bass has a problem with the pickguard.

It would be great if some of the owners of the MIC V7s would speak up and post pics if they haven't already.

Not until now - wow!! I may postpone my next Sire purchase until I see what else is coming down the pipe. Like some of these finishes in a 5-string model for starters.

One of the promotional images of MM sitting on the ground holding a black finish with a tort pg has a maple neck with black blocks similar to the black bass above. I wondered where that bass came from, now I know! I think that is an awesome combination.

Love the Black. Will be the perfect partner to my White Blonde! UK orders are supplied by Thomann in Germany and every Sire MM V7 is now sold out until 21st Jan 2016. Glad I got in when I did

I generally prefer natural finishes too, but since I already picked up a transparent Sunburst, I'm all set. Plus, i have a unique ability to always 'just miss' the newest models & finishes every time I order something, lol. I may ride this one out until around income tax return time just to see what develops between now & then. 'Tis an exciting thing to watch a great company with a great product start ramping up new models, finishes, etc.

Does anyone know if Dame has a PBASS style?

I saw a PJ model on their website. But who knows. I don't have any insight into what they will bring to the table as they start rolling out more models, but I would think one is more than likely to appear as a counterpart to the J models.

I checked with a couple TB guys that posted a couple weeks ago, one was from China and didn't know it until I had him look at his serial number.

Yeah, I saw that Charlie Blue post too. But your earlier post indicated that you, personally, had knowledge of other "guys" who had V7s that were made in China and that you had seen them, or at least pics of them, which allowed you to compare them with those from Indonesia. Now it seems your earlier post falls into the category of wishful thinking.

Not saying this just to bust your chops, I just think potential buyers who are following this thread deserve to have solid information and not be misled by speculation. That's why I've encouraged owners of the MIC instruments to comment and post pics. Some of them may have posted previously but without mentioning their bass's country of origin.

Nothing wrong with posting about your faith in the ability of Chinese manufacturers to produce quality instruments in general or pointing out that some well-regarded Fenders are produced there (I'm not sure which ones).

I don't own any expensive basses. In fact, the Sire I recently ordered will be my most expensive bass so, obviously, I'm hoping / expecting it will be well made. I have several fairly recently-made Asian basses. Three are Chinese. One (SX Fretless Jazz), other than having cheap hardware, is quite well made. The other two, not so much. My three Indonesian basses (Squier VM P fretless, Tradition PJ, Ibanez Talman) are a step up in overall build quality and my LTD PJ fretless (seen in my avatar) is even better. It was made in Vietnam.

Navigating around from bholfer's Dame link, the Dame Sanctus V900 looks pretty nice... has Lindy Fralin pickups, some nice looking hardware... cant tell what the electroncis swtitches and knobs do, since Chrome would not translate much of this since it's moistly apparently static image, not "text"... ... but look nice. It costs 990,000 thousand, though.

That's about $839 USD, by the way.

Looking at the Sanctus v900 controls, you'll notice it has two switches, instead of the single one on the Sire. The Sire has a stacked, sweepable, mid frequency pot while the Sanctus has a single mid level control and a three position switch to choose the center frequency. To me, the Sire's arrangement seems to be more versatile.

Other than that, it looks like the Sire is just a cheaper version without the "name brand" components of the Sanctus - no Fralin pickups, Grover tuners, Hipshot bridge. Also, the truss rod on the Sire adjusts at the body, not at the headstock.
