I think the basic story with all the frills and options is the same as it was with the fretless: if we're patient and enough of us ask nicely, Mickey and company will see what they can do to make it happen. I was honestly surprised how quickly they got out the first round of fretless basses (and how nice they are for the first try), as well as how quickly they merged them in to the production schedule as an orderable option. I've said it before, but everything I see still tells me they're trying hard to do it right.
I like the solid colors with black blocks, man Sire is giving me a bad case of GAS!
I'm eyeballing the sunburst 75. I was hoping these wouldn't come out until after I got my fretless and a bit closer to bonus time. Hopefully the "limited edition" lasts a while. Credit card is still smoking from Christmas expenses!
Yep '75 reissue limited editions are on sale now. I think I'm still waiting for the V7's in red though. They look so great, so hard to choose.
It's great to have these new options.... however I think I am going to order a most traditional style... and have the most retro bass in my collection. the Tobacco Sunburst V7 alder/rosewood 4 string. I plan to put on the pickup cover, and string it with flats, and never change them. Just because that is totally NOT like my other basses.

The main difference seems to be the bridge. The limited edition models use a lower mass, traditional style bridge that doesn't have the string thru body option like the regular version. I didn't see anything specific on the website about construction, but based on the price, I'm guessing the body is alder.
I would also suspect the neck profile is the same as the normal 4 string, just with black blocks and binding. I think I saw somewhere that the bodies are alder. I do like the look of these! I'd probably swap out the bridge and tuners for black ones - that would look sweet on the sunburst.
Interesting use of the reflection to make it look like there's some flame in there, rather than solid finishes.
And as such... they're taking pictures in a prison cell? hah

Probably just a different page, I didn't go looking. The M7 5ers are looking good - not quite the 5 string M3 I was thinking, but rather, a major upgrade, entirely new model line, though only somewhat M3-ish.
I'm guessing under fluorescent lights in a factory or warehouse...

I just got my V7 4 string sunburst ash/maple from Thomann! OMG, the seam(s) simply CAN'T BE SEEN from the front! This has got to be the most beautiful ash finish I've come across on any bass or guitar! And the tobacco sunburst has the most exquisite tone with just the slightest bit of red in the right light. I'll try and take some photos outdoors shortly (I live in a place where there's basically only one hour of daylight this time of year...)
Fit and finish is far better than I'm used to, having owned and played scores of budget instruments. The tones seem SOLID, though I've only played it DI'd into my DAW so far...
It's definitely by far the heaviest stringed instrument I have, though (not counting my piano).
