Just did the same thing with my new V7. I just could not find a pleasing active tone IMHO. Now it's lighter, maybe a tiny bit more resonant, and I have a mute switch!

I love the Kyser polish. I will try it on my sire tomorrow to confirm. I find it's a great polish for 99% of finishes out there.
I used it in a shop for 15 years while doing restrings. And the Kyser Lem Oil. Or the Dunlop 65 polish and lem oil. (Lem Oil for the rosewood fretboards, kyser polish should be fine on the gloss roasted maple necks)
Any type of sealed wood I usually just use a microfiber and wipe off once a week or so.
Raw/untreated wood gets a yearly butchers wax treatment, if needed.
I prefer to not apply cleaners/polishes on my instruments if possible.
I also wish Sire would make some more finish choices. Not a huge fan of thick layers of high gloss anything.
The M2 transparent colors look cool. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I have a v7 5 string fretless. When I got it it came shipped with flats that I took off and put rounds on because I wanted the tone of rounds ( nickel)…. Or so I thought! I straightened the neck, lowered the action, and got a moderate amount of mwah out of it, but just wasn't happy with the tone overall. I put the flats on another (fretted) bass and loved the sound so I ordered a set of flats to put on and I LOVE the tone I get, and the mwah is much more pronounced but the tone is very responsive to finger pressure and I can get a lot more tones depending on how I play. I also seem to have a lot more dynamic range soft to loud without having to change the volume knob.

Same. I took the batteries out of my V7 5-string because the passive tone just sounds better to me for some strange reason. I did however keep the batteries in my V7 4-string just to have the option if needed.
When I got my V5 It had rounds on it and I replaced those with Ernie Ball Cobalt flats. Felt a bit stiff so I changed to Elixir Nickel rounds.
After a while I changed the Cobalts back, Really prefer their sound. I have them on a 5 string M7 as well.
They sound great.
I think they are the same preamp. There's nothing wrong with them overall, I just hear a more vintage growl when in passive mode so I decided to use my 5 string exclusively passive.

Now i add a new bass. A Sire P5R that arrive in a month. But i dont know is is better a Sire V5R or the P5R. I love the two pasive model.
I think the P5R with flat string or the V5R with steel string for slap.

Flats on the P, rounds on the J for slap (and other things).
You have to answer for yourself whether a P or J style is best for you.
As for me, I'm really digging my P8 P/J.
So much so that I'm adding a 5-string P5R, as I needed a five but also I didn't want to wait for more stock on the 4-string P5R. Hopefully that new Sire will be here by the weekend.

Mi Yamaha is a PJ configuration and with de Aguilar DcB has a modern sound . I think suitable for slap. So mi initial idea is the P5R for falt string but in this minute i lesrn some RHCP songs . Is PJ good for slap or i change the P5R for the V5R to slap?

So, I've been playing my other bases for the last year or so and decided to play my Gen 1, V7. Somehow, it was still in tune, except for the low B.
It may not be as perfectly balanced and refined as an F bass or Dragonfly, but it certainly holds its own as far as sound and playability. What I've always liked best about this bass is how immediately perfect it sounds with any rig. It's still 100% stock and I still wouldn't change a thing.
I see Sire has a non vintage, 70's, 5 string jazz. I think it has the normal neck profile, which I'm happy about because I didn't like the fb radius and neck dive on the Gen 2 vintage. I'll have to figure out which model it is and go from there. I'm glad to see the Sire community is going strong!

The M series Sire's are really growing on me. Very comfortable to play, great sound with or without the Pre-amp.
They don't seem as popular as the classically shaped Sire are but I feel they might be their best offering.
People should try one for a few weeks, Might never put it down again
