Anyone with a V8 5 string or other 5 string roasted maple neck have a super stiff truss rod? Trying to set up this bass I got today and it's really stiff to loosen or tighten the truss. Anyone else have one like this?

Does it move at all or are you possibly just rounding out the hex head?

Truss rods should not be super hard to turn. But I don't know how "hard" other people's "Super hard" is.

Hey guys and girls, I'm sure you all know D10x premium hipshot bridge and tuner upgrades.

So, we can buy those parts separately in the near future to upgrade our V-P/5,7,8 basses i guess.

What do you think?

Thanks for the reply. It moves a bit. It sounds like it's cracking if I force it to move. In either direction. Like set wood.

Every time I pick up the bass is a soul cleansing for me, the positive vibes of music

I dig this bass, it's getting great tones at rehearsal. Got a regular ongoing gig n July, it will be the 2nd gig with this bass, I've been using my Jazz bass lately. The U-5 will get more time, because I like the feel, the sound,

...and the band mates dig the sound as well, always a plus

The owner of my local music store was surprised how easy the truss rod on P5 moved. I let him know that was how all my Sires are…including the V7 I got today

NBD!! Got a V7 from Sweat Wetter today. Hell yes it's the Flagship of the brand! It's amazing!



Had this been the first Sire I bought then there are four other basses I would have never bought! The only questionable things I found wrong was the neck has a fingernail width gap, and the neck was kinda dry.

When I treated the neck with lemon oil, some dye came off and now it's got a lot more color variation. I think it looks better with the LPB

I just got a new V5R that came with a black pickguard with a rosewood board and white pearl blocks. Your pictures convinced me to do something I was already considering - getting a replacement pickguard in white pearl in order to match the blocks. J just traced my black one and filled out the WD Music custom order form.

Cool! I don't know if you saw an earlier photo I posted, but I was very pleased to find out that there's no routing underneath the pin guard and I decided to go bare with mine, it looks great.

To you and everybody else, I just listened to this interview this morning, not just fascinating about MM and his thoughts on writing, but at the end he has some interesting things to say about Sire:

My local GC had a used V9 fiver that was probably under 8.5 pounds and the neck was amazing. I kept waffling back and forth because I don't really care for figured wood tops in general but it was damn nice feeling. I made up mind to get it and went back and it was gone, but someone got a great bass.[/Q

We've all been there, drag the feet, somebody else makes the decision for us...
As "they" say, go with your 1st reaction, like a multiple choice test (do they have those anymore)
Your 1st gut - that little voice talking to you in the back of your head -- is the way to go...
We second guess ourselves to much!

Thanks. My V9 is perfectly balanced, seated or standing. First I was thinking of replacing the tuners for some Gotoh GB528's. But I don't really need them. I had the 5 string first, but that one was way too heavy at 4.5kg. This one is perfect at 3.6kg. Sound is fantastic, can do anything I want with it, very versatile. I hardly touch my German Sadowsky Will Lee anymore. Next saturday we play at a small festival in the Netherlands. First gig with this bass. We, heavy symphonic progrock band Generate, will play only original songs for about 1 hour. Here is a link to one of our older songs played at another festival.
