V3 not available in fretless, Sire seems to use non gloss finishes only on the entry level gear.

I don't think people changing pre-amps and pickups is a bad thing. Some of us just like to make their instruments a personalized item. It's no different than what we do with our cars, trucks and homes.

Fretless huh? I have been thinking hard about a Sire fretless. Unfortunately I haven't heard one that really sang with the MWAH sound I like.
I think there's probably something to sticking with a bass that was designed as fretless from the very blueprint.
Ibanez made buying another brand of fretless bass pretty difficult, when the SRH500F was introduced.
Maybe not the best for gigging with ... I wouldn't know. But for lighting a fire in your studio with a glass of relaxation? It's unbeatable unless you can afford Rob Allen. Jmo

in my search for a nice Fretless 4 string I'd come back to Sire in a heartbeat if only they would offer finishes that arent glossy. heavy gloss polyurethane doesnt do it for me at this stage.

I much prefer satin or flat finishes, and so far the only Sire I know that has that is the M2 and I cant get that in fretless.

Maybe one day.

The back of my sire necks are satin finish and the fretless board is glossy. I like that combo.

I'm going to say "it" ... Sire did a strange thing with the U5.
I know it's a short scale and not for everyone ... but they made them "nicer" than all but the dx series. Just saying. At least with consideration of appearance.
It wouldn't surprise me if the U5 goes up in price.

U5 definately punches above it's weight class.

I may be ignorant, but I'd still be happy if the U5 had of cost $1000. I believe that is a more appropriate price, when comparing to the V5, V7 etc.
I don't think the U5 is one speck better made or sounding. But just an instrument that is a bit "nicer" overall.

The thing is, I dont.
Especially not the bodies that look like they have been dipped in nail polish.
Just not my vibe.

I'm inclined to wait a couple iterations, cause they may need to iron out some kinks, but on the other hand, wow.

AFAIK, that has been empirically verified for all or at least most of Sire's basses and guitars, according to the interwebs...
