SIT Fusion Wound Stainless

So after doing a full setup on my Jazz, truss rod, string height you name it! The word that keeps coming to mind is "bouncy" ? Does that make sense? The strings feel bouncy!
Again these are the nickel wounds not the stainless version. Very even tone throughout.

Once I put the power steels on I'll see if I take back my original statement about not caring for them. I know how polarizing strings can be from my experience with pro steel. Hated the. On 1 bass but really liked them on a different one. These could be the same way.

Not sure if I mentioned this, but I still had one set of HRS in my bag and needed to restring the bass, so after using the Power Steels for quite a while, I threw on the HRS and was pleasantly surprised that I much prefer the Power Steels. So in the end it was kind of good that La Bella discontinued them and pushed me in this direction.

Sorry, are these the Fusion Wound or Power Wound? And by "bouncy," do you mean floppy? Or bouncy in that they're taut and your fingers snap back?

How would you say the 2 differ in sound? HRS and Power steels?

Two months with the FWS, I decided it was time to try the PS. That was this past Tuesday (July 9).

Three days and three nights... I woke up this morning with a thought in my head - "I don't even enjoy playing rounds anymore, let alone stainless steel. No more experiments, I'm going back to my tried and true." I just finished installing Ken Smith Compressors 40-58-80-102-125T on the BB.

Well that's an interesting turn of events! But what did you think of the FWS compared to the PS?

I do agree with some of the earlier comments about the FWS being a little "polite" in their tonal character. One thing I did notice when I put the PS on was they sounded "livelier" than the FWS they just replaced. If I ever decide to play SS rounds again in the future, I would probably choose the PS over the FWS.

On the same day I installed the PS on my 435, I also installed the Fusion Wound Nickels (originally meant for the 435) on a friend's bass. Interestingly enough, they did seem to be quieter than the Round Core Boomers they replaced. Just a casual observation, though...

Hi @michael_t ,
I took my Fusion Wounds (Nickel) off my AVRI 62 Jazz this weekend. I had a fairly fresh set of D'Addario Pro Steels that I had taken off to use the FWs. The Fusion wounds just didn't do much for me tonally. I'm much more impressed with the SIT Foundations?
I still think the Pro Steels might be too modern for this Jazz but right now I'm enjoying some John Paul Jones tones with them . :)
