Skjold Basses? ANY INFO?

Right on, I can totally understand that, I actually tend to agree. Same with Alembics, just an asthetic that I dont prefer in a headstock with those body styles. Ritter basses are to me, a good example of perfect headstock for body shapes.

Precisely. They couldn't be more perfect if they were designed by a robot programmed to match things.

You know what's funny though...is when you're playing the bass, the last thing you look at is the headstock.

There are so many headstocks I simply don't care for, but each pro builder has made his mark for a great playing and sounding bass. Headstock design is a debate that will never be settled.

I bought a 6-string from Pete - one of this first after his move from Vegas to Dallas area. I found the craftsmanship to be excellent, the playability to be on par with any other "big name". And the TONE was awesome!! I thought it would be right at home in a studio setting -- very even, but authoritative. I couldn't keep it simply because the neck was too big for my hands, and they were starting to hurt.

NOW,he's got a Pro series 5-string that I simply fell on the floor over! It's the one that only weighs 6.5 lbs. It played like a dream and sounded great with the J pickups.

I agree, John; the Pro 5 string is an awesome bass. I've hardly felt the weight. Very comfortable, super easy playability and the sound production was great. If it would have been a 6er, I'd been all over it.

:D

I picked up my new Skjold today. I got the lacewood/purpleheart one. Pics shall come tomorrow when I get to the office.

Yeah, Freak!! Hookin' up with the Skjold bass!! :bassist:

I have probably played about 10-12 of Pete's basses. I really think the ones with the purpleheart fingerboard have the best sound. They are punchy, even, and easy to play.

Now, if only they weren't....PURPLE!

For those interested in a used Skjold:

I'm testing the trade waters to see what's out there.
