Slappin' da bass - slappin ya face

Just look at them with a bemused or befuddled expression, as if they're speaking a foreign language, until they make the hand motions. Then nod in understanding as you tell them "Oh, yeah, spankin' the plank! They haven't called it slappin' in twenty years. Nobody says that anymore!"
They'll smile and nod and slink off to their friends to share their newly aquired wisdom with them.
The drunker they get, the louder they'll shout it, and everyone at their workplace will hear it over and over throughout the next workday, sooooooo..........

Extra Bass Player Points are awarded for earworming them with a euphemism that is borderline descriptive of self gratification, when heard by most. Be imaginative! Then have a good chuckle come Monday. :D

fortunately hasnt happened to me, yet.

I’m so sick of this stupid thing. I’ve had so many awkward conversations where people say “slappa da Bass” And I reply that it’s not my thing and I’m much more of a fingerstyle player. This response leads to an awkward stare. So I googled this, expecting to see a meme of someone actually playing slap, and I see ... that. It was painfully unfunny. Now, I just chuckle and move on when some non-musical noob says that.

I have a certain reputation that proceeds me, usually keeps that behavior in check, but there is always time for a demonstration.

At one gig last year there was a biker dude hitting on my wife, she asked him if he was aware who her husband is and might not take his attention kindly. She sent him off to ask, he very shortly came back and apologized.
