Slayer is the best band ever.

Hehe, Slayer is a great band, not for all though. I'd bet my left testicle that you couldn't play raining blood after just one month of bass training. Not that it's hyper advanced, definately not, but it isn't no smoke-on-the-water type of simple song.

I don't think I could agree on this one...

Go listen to Reign In Blood.

right now.

and then go to church and confess to the priest "father, I have sinned. Slayer is the best band in the world" Then start singing the lyrics in confessional.

yeah.

:eyebrow:
Nothing to discuss.
Your wrong.

I have a few Mike Stern tunes I would love to see Kerry King fall apart on.
And Tom Araya (sp?), tell him I have a chart for "Donna Lee". And I'll even let him use his pick if he needs to. Or better yet, let him loose on "My Girl"- that should be good!
Jeff Hanneman- He can stay home. I'm sure he'll want to after I give him a Joe Pass disc to learn from.

Then I'd give the whole band (Dave Lombardo too) the Real Book and let them pick ANYTHING and without practicing ahead of time, just pick and play so to speak, and sit back with a drink and have a good chuckle.

In fact, I'll let them have at "Goodby Pork Pie Hat" (a slow ballad in case you didn't know).

Or heck, lets see them have at "Some Skunk Funk" by the Brecker Brothers. It's a fast tune. They like to play fast, right?. :bassist:

Now, for what they do, they're great.

Outside of that, I got nothing.....

Put the best jazz players in the world in a metal situation and watch them fall apart as well, music is subjective, no need to be elitist about it.

and slayer are terrible seriously, theyre metal for people who don't actually like metal

Slayer = 4th rate Kreator, face it.

I agree with the first half of your post! :)

They aren't amazing technically or anything, but man for raw thrash they are hard to beat IMO.

still amazed this thread is alive, but why not.

I like Slayer. Let me rephrase that. I like Reign In Blood, South of Heaven, and Seasons in the Abyss. Slayer as a band are a complete mixed bag, having churned out repetitive, uninspired, uninteresting chunder for the last 15 or so years. Luckily they have three complete classics under their belts, otherwise their live shows would be horrendous.

And: Kerry King has gotta be one of the most overrated guitarists in all of metal. Really not that great.
