slides on a fretted bass

    How do you do slides on a fretted bass without having it sound "bumpy"? I was trying to play Dear Prudence, which has a lot them, but the slides sounded like crap. Any advice?

    lighten the touch..

    Dear Prudence probably also was done on flats

    Put flats on it. That works really well for me!

    It's somewhat tricky to make slides sound very smooth, even with flats. Practice makes perfect.
