I am new to bass playing and the current bass I am using (Ibanez SR500) has a small metallic 'ting' (metallic rattle almost) when I play an open E. Everything seems tightened. Is that something to be concerned about (as far as integrity of the bass?), I have not had experience with other basses so not sure if this is normal.

Try to figure out if its string buzz or if its something vibrating somewhere!
If its string buzz try playing softer or raise the action or stop worrying about it, if its not, check all the screws...
