Sludge/Doom Effects

i play alot of stoner/doom metal in my spare time. i would go with:

ehx bass big muff
nice overdrive of your choice
sansamp bddi
envelope filter of some sort (ehx q-tron, digitech bass synth wah, etc...)

just for starters, then later a delay, phaser, and possibly a few other things

the dry mode on the bass muff allows you to blend in your dry signal with the fuzzed signal. i find that with my ibanez pd-7 on a mild overdrive setting running into the muff on dry mode, i can blend the 2 tones together to get a VERY wide range of tones for this kind of music

i think i will buy sansamp bddi and a good fuzz(probabily supercollider).

do you know colorsound fuzz or el grande bass fuzz?

i had seen sample on you tube for el grande and i like it.

The colorsound tonebender is a great fuzz, but its huge. The supercollider can nail the tonebenders tone and is more versatile, and will cost you considerably less unless you live in england. The el grande gets mixed reviews, i couldnt stand it myself. I think the supercollider would be your best option.

in a few months I would buy a supercollider, but now i want a fuzz more available.

what is the best fuzz for weedeater sound?

bass big muff (or what big muff?)
el grande bass fuzz
colorsound bass fuzz
colorsound tonebender
zvex mammooth

or what?

Oh dudes, try big and heavy tube amplifier! Sell all you have except bass (?) and buy one - that's your way. I've sold my Sansamp and fuzz and cool before active guitar, bought vintage one and crazy tube amp and this is all I need to play stoner/doom/sludge.

Probably not a Wooly Mammoth - too modern sounding, in my opinion.

+1 on having a big tube amp (and lots of speakers). A little practice amp (or even a medium size amp) is probably never going to do what you want.

You're all set as far as amplifiers go. Ignore the guys saying you've got to go tube--Dixie Dave is proof that you absolutely don't.

Out of that list you've given us, I'd personally go with the Bass Big Muff, but I'm just in love with the muff circuit, so I'm probably biased.

Bassenstien, your Supercollider is set pretty different to mine - is that how you usually use it? You seem to have the depth right the way up, which sucks out the low end, and the mids and tone way down. I have mine the opposite, depth just above minimum, mids cranked and tone about 1-2 o'clock.
