Sludge/Doom Effects

Bassenstien, your Supercollider is set pretty different to mine - is that how you usually use it? You seem to have the depth right the way up, which sucks out the low end, and the mids and tone way down. I have mine the opposite, depth just above minimum, mids cranked and tone about 1-2 o'clock.
No that pic was snapped the first time that I had the Supercollider playing through my big rig and I was messin around with it. I do keep the mid and tone pretty far down and I dont run the gain all the way up like in that pic.

I actually like to use an EHX BassBalls with a Fender Jazz for my DOOM/Stoner sound with just a hint of breakup. Keeps the bass sounding like a bass, but with a unique element to it. Its almost like a "squishy" tone if you ask me and sounds AWESOME! Just gotta keep the settings kinda low and use a hard attack.

i got my inspiration form Sleep's Dragonaut. I think Al used one for his tone in that song but Im not 100%

I just got a bassballs myslelf and im likin it alot. I use it in a loop of my LS-2 to make it more subtle.
My doom stoner board has downsized alot. Mainly because we are doing lots of out of town shows and taking the PT pro was gettin hard.
Ditched my Supercollider all together :hiding: The Alien Hate Fuzz > Green Stache is the only fuzz tone that I need (brutal fuzz).

i ditched my supercollider also, right now i'm using the watson superfuzz clone, b:assmaster and stone machine and the ultra-lord for my fuzz/octave needs. i have a minge box coming soon and i will get a ehx bass big muff in the future.

i need to hear clips of the alien hate fuzz and the green stache

Can't believe i missed this thread...

Current Board:
myboardasis.jpg

Ibanez Weeping Demon, Vodoo lab Srarkle Drive, Boomstick Bottom Feeder, Bass Big Muff, Radial Big Shot looper, Boss OC-3, Digitech Multi Chorus...on the otherside Sansamp DI and a Devi Ever Dark Boost

My board is run into a stereo rig....

the 4 x 10 gets the dirty effects the 15" gets run clean thus preserving the low end....the Hartke's have been modded via a few circut tweeks and swapping out the stock tubes in the pre's for grittier hotter ones. I also have a RBI and RPM that get switched out in the rack depending on my mood....I may actually ditch the DI soon and leave both Pre's in the rack and patch a Devi Ever Godzilla into the mix, but I'm still on the fence on this one...I designed and built the cabs myself the 4 x 10 is very upper midrange oriented (sealed) and the 15 is dual ported in the back....

and this is my current main squeeze as it does passive and active both via a cute little toggle switch
Trabenfront1.jpg

sometimes i switch it our for a B.C. Rich Mockinbird NJ (circa 1984), or my ESP F series....

I know aint it cool? (the toggle switch i mean) that is what my wife calls it anyway...cute

yea i have been absent from the board...lots of band drama...after spending close to $500.00 and many hours in the studio ($50.00 an hour discount given to me by a bud and fellow bass player that has a studio) my guitard decided he could not get along with our singer and ditched us for a speed metal project....still unsure if we are going to replace him or not 9as it means i get to play more complex lines), and i have been busy re-writing and re-working bass lines and using more fuzz and distortion to cover rhythm tracks.....been busy

I have posted here and there just haven't had the time i normally do lately....wrote two new songs today with the remaining guitard.....which my wife says the bass line sounds like Tool....so i'm guessing that's a compliment....and after re-reading this post it is apparent i have been awake far too long this weekend that or one to many pints of Beamish...lol
