If I were "just a rocker" and spent all night slamming away with a pick like I was trying to dig a hole in the bass body, muting three out of four strings and playing the same note for 45 minutes straight hacking the fastest 16th note figures ever played, I imagine technique wouldnt matter as much![]()

In addition, the lower the bass, the worse they play.
At a point it becomes impossible to play with any speed or accuracy for sure. I try and keep my bass around about where the back of the P pickup would be at my belt buckle. Any lower and my musicianship turns to mush, any higher and I end up adopting a white boy overbite and playing blurty clusters of jazz notes with little regard for musical context.![]()

this always looked a bit goofy to me.
1) that's not a bass, it's a guitar.
2) there's no strap that I can determine (I'm on the iPhone app so there MIGHT be) the GUITARIST is holding the guitar up high and mugging it up for the camera for comic relief.
WAY LOW! I guess I never saw a pict of Doug but I would have never guessed he played that low.
