Yes I had made the upgrade but from Mr Jesper Lundgaard, and it did do a lot for the amplifier. At the same time I did the mistake to test the new model ( B512 ) made by Jesper Lundgaard, and the two amplifiers can't be compared!
I had both amplifiers with me on a gig, on rehearsel and in my own studio, so they where tested side by side in different situations.
Again contact Mr Jesper Lundgaard, he is able to give you all technical details.

Hi all,

This thread is hopelessly derailed into an "arco-amplification" thread, so here´s my take.

I can´t comment on old vs. new arco b510 vs dB510 talk. Sometimes, companies and developers split, and usually, both parts of the split are not too fond of each other afterwards. I prefer not to take sides. I have no knowledge on CADaudio´s amplifiers.

What I have is test experience of J. Lundgaards "arco hugo". An amp he built with suggestions of Hugo Rasmussen (another danish bass legend worth checking out). I played it on a job, a rehearsal, and at home.

This amp is dead-simple straightforward: Bass and Treble controls, tone switch (bright, medium, dark), phase switch, mute switch, 500 watts, 7,9 kilos. Effects Loop, extra speaker out. Oh, and it has an 8 inch speaker. The front panel is little bigger than an A4 sheet of paper.

It sounds absolutely unbelievable with my dyn-b and without any preamp. I don´t miss a parametric eq as I do on the AI. It´s just not honky at all. It´s supernatural, super-powerful, warm, and the easiest to carry around. I´ve tried it with a Realist and it also sounds great. But with the dyn-b, I couldn´t believe my ears. I have to add it´s not the easiest pickup to amplify.

I couldn´t really go back to my AI Contra, although I have to. It´s DKK 12000, meaning 1600 Euros. Still, I think it´s worth every krone, Jesper is a one-man enterprise and only builds one if you want one. And he´s a quality perfectionist.

-The pots are not on the PCB, but hand-wired to it, like in the old days.
-You don´t like the freqs of the eq, Jesper offers variations to your needs.
-Amp comes with a cover (made by is wife!).

Check it out when you´re in Copenhagen.

Yoy are right!
I have tried "Arco Hugo" once and and it knocked my socks off!!
It a small amplifier with with the same power as B512, but without all the extra "bits and bops". In other words stript down to basic...and it sound...GREAT!

If you are Jaromir Honzak, then I have heard your music on Myspace, and you will love The Arco (B512 or the Arco Hugo).
I'm afraid i'm not having plans coming to Prague in near future.
I understand your concern regarding buying an amplifier without testing it, but contact mr Jesper Lundgaard for detail about the test possibilities (He lives in Copenhagen) maybe his on tour in your area. (Jesper Lundgaard is one of denmarks top bassplayers).
If your in Copenhagen anyway you are welcome to visit me at my place also.

thats a very good question, dont ask me as you may allready know my answer but do check both of them out if they are witin your price range.

at least it seems to require a lot of talking to sell the expensive version of the 2 combos, nice if some of it had to do with any real differences beteeen the 2 amps in question ;)

hi, a comment about prices, the "new" arco and the old cost the same to produce, the new is simpler but we use cnc so it will end up being pretty much the same ,

development costs for the "new" must be way lower as it is merely a crude clone of my work on the old one. (yes we could go to court but we probably wont)

about prices the "important" bass players i know of and talked to paid around 1000 usd for the "new" arco and in return they must praise it on msb boards like this, (helps you to understand the praising here too, right?)
if they can tell a few lies about the old amp it wont hurt either ;)

but the average bassplayer (not so important) pays like 3000usd for the same amp.

so you should ask yourself, am i an important bassplayer or not, as mr sidecar said, do the math.
