I really enjoy my Ibanez Promethean 1x10 combo. Paid $350 for it used at GC. 250 Watts @ 8 ohms with the combo. Pop out the head and pair it with my Henry 8x8 for 500 Watts.

Peavey makes bullet proof combos for a song, and they sound good enough for practice.

That thing had a really solid tone to it. I even once had to gig with it, and ran through the venues DI it still sounded good.

my acoustic 260 micro stack. 100watts 1-10" I bought it on a wimb 'cause I thought it looked cool. But I fell in love with the sound. Not at all thin or boxey sounding. Its plenty loud for rehersal and small gigs. I know $299 a little pricey for a gimick-practice amp, but its so damn cool to look at you forget what you paid for it. the only bad thing is no balanced out.

I used to use the head through a 2x15 for gigs...and it worked, believe it or not.

I also liked the Peavey Max when I played one at GC, but
I ordered one from MF and it was DOA.
That's why I got the Warwick.

Ampeg BA112, or B50R. But, I also own one of those tiny Vox Pathfinder's with 10 watts and 2 6" spkrs that doesn't sound bad either, especially for under $100. Both budget amps and budget basses have come a loong way in the last 10 yrs or so. Used to be you bought a cheap amp, and it sounded the part. Now, some of these cheap amps actually sound pretty good.
