A bass player in a local punk band years ago got into a fight with the guitarist and swung his bass at him. Guitarist backed up, bass hit the PA stack and busted into a million pieces. Hahaha! Was a Fender American made. All parties were obviously wasted. Then the dude was out back later loading the bands gear and was throwing pieces of his bass all over alley and screaming obscenities. Least it was a punk band, pretty acceptable. The cover bands are waxing their basses with diapers as this dudes smashing his. I thought the whole ordeal was entertaining. I would say "what a waste of a.bass" but I don't even like Fenders lol

Smash that Jazz bass to pieces!

That's what happens when mommy and daddy are filthy rich but the only love they show their son is by buying him a lot of expensive stuff for him to later break. He probably got a new one the next weekend.
that puts the dum in du....I once knew a guitar player who was a mediocre musician but a great frontman and he bought a cheapo guitar with the intent of smashing it on stage...so he puts it on for the song and about halfway through starts his smashing act except....it would't break..it was hilarious watching this skinny weasel who had never done a hard days work in his life frantically trying to get this guitar to break and it just would not break...it was epic.
Is a P the best bass for punk?
Everybody knows that the Jazz bass is made for jazz and the P Bass is made for punk. "P" for punk. And Ibanez's are better for metal. It's that simple.
I was going to type up a rant about how I have played in several moderately successful punk bands and used a Jazz bass the whole time, but instead I will simply say...

the Ibanez basses must be from the '80's with a pointy headstock to be good for metal. The pointy headstock does wonders for the metallic tone!!
Gotta agree to disagree on a Ibanez being best for metal. I've been playing metal for almost 20 years and I find my Thunderbird and my Dean V's better all around. I had a Ibanez soundgear (high end can't remember exact specs) and it didn't give me the punch and feel my current line up does. But hey whatever its all personal preference. I've seen lots of punk players with jazz basses, the p is more common but still. A bass is a bass, if your a good player you can make any style work for any style of music. Don't get caug

Actually he was a maybe 110 pound Japanese kid with the fury of a thousand starving cobras. I can understand his frustration, his bandmates were wasted n messing up all their parts. As angry as he was I think he was the only sober one, maybe he just hit his breaking point with the band....to bad the fender hit its breaking point too. Oh and I'm sorry, there were 1,000,002 pieces, I recounted emI cannot believe that a fender bass smashed into a millon pieces. Was he the incredible hulk?
They must not make Fenders like they used to. I once dropped my old 84 P down a flight of concrete stairs, and all it got was a few more dings than it already had. The fall didn't even knock it out of tune.

You must of not tried the Ibanez SRX series. And i'm being serious by the way. They also make the Iceman which has the same pickups as the SRX series.
