Smoking is killing me

I am actually allergic to cigarette smoke & a host of other air polutants but I just tell my band mates (all of them smoke) to do it outside after we run through a set. Just don't smoke in the practice space. I played one horriific show where there we"re about 250 people in the club & damn near all of them we're smoking. I caught pink eye because of it & was out of work for 3 days on a nebulizer trying to get my lungs straight. I will never play a show like that again & with Luck Virginia put a ban on smoking in bars & restaurants. 90% of my friends smoke & I have no idea why & neither do they. Their just addicts, they have no control.
In Michigan we just passed a no smoking in bars law last year. Some of the bars went under, some are still struggling, some are letting people smoke in them and just saying "Come get us". They know there is not enough enforcement. So some of our fans will not see us at certain places.
Bans on smoking are a drag.
Come on folks, it's a bar. You're not going there for your health...
I live in MN, and not being able to smoke inside when it's -20 is way uncool.
It should be the owner of the establishments decision whether or not to allow smoking; smokers buy drinks like everyone else.

I like the bandana idea, although that may or may not fly depending on the type of band you're in. You'll be "the mysterious one" in the band!
I went to see a friends play in a bar a couple weeks ago. Walked into a cloud of smoke. Some lady was dancing with a lit cig in her hand right in front of the band. The band was choking, it was hiliarious. I only lasted 2 sets and had to leave. I hear it's better when the weather allows the doors to be open and the swamp cooler turned on.
Funny thing is I liked the vibe at the bar, and will go back to see him play. When him and his wife got home after the gig, the undressed and left their smelly clothes in the garage, only to walk in to find their son watching tv in the living room. oops!

You live in SD, Ive been to SD, you do realize that it is illegal to smoke in bars in California, regardless of whether the bar owner allows you to or not?

No, I dont go to a bar fro my health, I go to a bar to have a drink and watch a band. And I go outside if I feel like having a smoke.
I don't smoke...
I believe it's the venue owner's right to post a "yes or no" on the door.
Patrons then have the right to know before entering.

Go in there with an 8X10, but replace the top 4 speakers with high performance fans. Make sure your cab is ported. Or go in there with a 4X10 and stack a 2X10 with 2 fans in it.

As much as I love playing music, my health is way more important to me. I simply would never agree to play at any indoor place where smoking is allowed.......no exceptions. No matter what. Period. End of story.
Stick an unlit ciggie in your mouth and breath throught that. Get a whole pack so you can change them out every so often.
It will get better, it always does. That's how it was when it happened here...some places closed, some only slowed down. But once everyone got use to it business went back to normal, and new places opened up. And smokers simply got use to the idea of just going outside.

Back in the 90's when I lived near Santa Barbara is when the smoking ban went in effect, I think sometime around late 1997.
I'm in the Sacramento area, and smoking has been outlawed in enclosed public places (bars, businesses, restaurants, etc.) for years now. Prior to the ban going into effect, there was the usual bunch of whiners (negative thinkers) who thought those businesses would suffer. The opposite happened. Those places are now more desirable to go to, and business has actually increased.
LOL! Perhaps the more appropriate question is, what is the best lung cancer for metal?
