Smoothest/Fastest playing passive jazz you've played

I'm looking to stepin the realm of jazz basses finally but there are so many out there of different brands and especially different quality. I want to start by looking at those that play excellent with thin fast necks. What are your recommendations under 1000 used?

I also say passive so that if I want to add an outboard amp later I could

The '62 Reissue. They're incredible. The necks are so thin, I don't know how they don't break. But they don't. They play like butter and sound fantastic. They're not much more than $1K new last I checked, so I bet they're in your price range.

There's also the Geddy Jazz, too, but the '62 reissue has the stacked-knob thing going, which is the bee's knees as far as I'm concerned.

The USA Joe Osbourne Neck is easy to play. I would guess the Skyline would be too.

I would say a USA standard from the new series, the necks feel great, the QC is good and they sound pretty good in general.

It sure is! I've got a fiver, but the neck is uber fast.

The Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn has a fast neck. So does the Fender Geddy Lee. Both are well under $1,000 used.

You won't find a refined taste here.

I'll throw Carvins out there. They've got a pretty sweet thin neck and you can have them built to your specs. Find a used one and you can get a US custom made (for someone) bass for $300-$800

Geddy basses have super thin necks.

I just picked up a japanese 62ri which has a really nice easy to play neck, if you can find one second hand they're well worth it, much cheaper than an american as well.

The P bass isn't a jazz.

However, the Classic Vibe jazz has one of the sweetest necks on it that I've ever played.

yup go and try some Usa J bass necks are different on them all then set it up and bingo great bass with a great sound, just avoid ****ing it up by changing the pups if you dont like the sound get a different bass

The smoothest fastest playing jazz I've played is my SX... that's why I own it. But I would suggest you play any and all jazz basses you can to find the one that suits you best.
