I've always appreciated Ritters, Alembics, and Drzods for what they are, GREAT examples of Luthier art. I don't know if I would even have one if I had the money. I'm much the same way with firearms, I love looking at 30,000 Perazzi over and unders, but give me a Beneli Black Eagle when that bad dude is coming thru the back door. Speaking of which I'd love to see this bass at a serious blues jam in the D.:D

So, I have a question (oh man am I gonna catch hell for this!!)
since I've been on the recieving end of this question a few times:
If a $8500 Fodera is better than one costing say $3500, is this better than everything??

BTW, that bass is sick!!

Jady, if you had this bass, what kind of car would you drive to your gig in?!?!??!!!

And, think at $100 a gig, playing 4 times a month, it would take you 21 years to pay it off!!

The next time my wife says I'm spending too much on a bass, I'm gonna direct her attention to this thread!!:D

Yeah I think if it were solid gold it would be REALLY heavy (talk about neck dive!) and probably much more expensive than it already is.

Crazy! Although... what's with all the jewelry?

Nice looking bass but before I pay that for it they'll need to put in a few more screws to hold that neck on!:)

I mean really! Do you think 10 will really hold that neck on?:hiding:

RITTER Multi Screw Neck Joint




"The Neck Joint is a very special and mostly totally neglected sound influencing element. It is responsible for the dynamic and speed (Attack) of the bass and also for the string amplitude power consumption (Sustain).

After comparing different constructions (identical wood from the same tree), I developed my ”Multi screw Bold on Neck Joint”. I always use the maximum possible amount of screw per available area.

If you compare this connection physically, you will identify a much faster attack, longer Sustain and a different mid-frequency-range of the instrument.

If you compare this connection acoustically, you will recognize a better dynamic, a faster response and a greater presence within your band.

The reason is a lower absorption of the string amplitude energy, because the absorption area (vibrations-system) is divided into 2 “oscillation-arms” with different lengths, which hardly move with the string frequency."

As a work of art, and a testament to Jens' skill, its simply outstanding, breathtaking even.

As a bass, its absolutely worthless and useless. As far as I'm concerned, if its never coming out of its case except to be looked at, then it's not serving its purpose. Basses are meant to be played, that one would never see a note plucked in anger. A waste of money.

+1 on all of that apart from the waste of money part.

i mean someone will buy it, im sure, but they wont play it.

and a +1 to what Mike Bass said as well.

i guess it will probably end up as show piece on a wall in a mansion or something, or at Trump Tower. It does look amazing but i also think as a bass which is of course made to be played it is pointless. but as a work of art... well i guess its priceless.

but if i had the money i wouldnt buy it, i would buy a load of fodera's instead :hiding:

IMO, for it not to be a waste of money, it'd have to be sold at a price that I knew would appreciate over time, and I could punt it on for a profit later on. Given that its starting price is $100,000 I'm pretty sceptical about its value as an investment, I don't believe the value would rise enough for me to make money on it. Even if the value did raise enough that you could, on selling it make a profit from it, no one is going to be stupid enough to buy it at that raised price, unless it was either going to be shown as an art piece, or it was bought as an investment.

And if it was an investment, the price would have to have rocketed up considerably to make it worthwhile! ;)
