Double Bass Snow Basses

Has anyone played or own a Snow Bass? I used to work in a music store that sold Snow violins and Cellos and they were awsome for the money. But I never played one of their basses.

My son has played a snow cello for over 5 years. His teacher at the time (KC Symphony player) found it for him and highly recommended it. Dunno about basses.

I have a student who plays a Snow bass - its a very nice bass for the price I think. Well made, sounds good. She's been playing it for 3 or 4 years now with no issues at all. I wish all my students had instruments of that quality.

I played one once, it sounded pretty good, and the bass was very easy to play. Beautiful instrument, with a big warm sound.

i own a snow bass. i love it. i've owned it since 2003 and have never had any issues. i took it to a well known NYC area luthier to have a new fingerboard and bridge because i personally like really thick fingerboards and i wanted this guy to do a full setup from scratch for me. im not posting his name because he candidly commented on how nice the wood (beautiful flamed maple back, ribs, neck and scroll) and workmanship was. he pointed to several features that indicated that it was hand carved. he remarked that it was nicer than most of the shen's he sees. its the only bass that i own that doesnt get weak in the upper register.

its the first song titled "my blues". there is a bass solo near the beginning where you can really hear the bass. this was recorded with no isolation ( i was in the room with the band) on a crappy 90$ carvin condenser mic directly into the board with no fancy preamp or eq. pretty darn good sound if you ask me.

thanks alot! i am not playing the snow in the videos. thats a romanian factory bass that just sounds and plays awesome! (cost all of $900 but i had a new fingerboard and bridge put on that one as well) the snow is a very pretty violin cornered flamed maple bass with an amber color to it, not like the orange spray varnish on the romanian bass. the only one that has the snow is the blues. the rest of the audio recordings are a kolstien shop bass.
