Snowy Saturday

Nothing like shoveling through 15 feet of 3 foot deep hardpacked snow to get your car out to the street.

AW man,...that stuff is a PITA!!.

We had an epic snowfall about this time last year.

The plows came through our neighborhood; which is a medium density residential/commercial area just west of downtown. Anyone that parked on the street; which is a lot of residents, had to deal with that hardpacked stuff. I remember breaking a shovel or two trying to help people out of their parking spot.

We ended up with 18" in Alexandria. I shoveled the walk and sidewalk during the storm yesterday and it was back in 2 hrs. Didn't get warm enough to melt much and the roads will probably refreeze tonight. Buses and above-ground trains are suspended tonight. Liberal leave for me tomorrow. Not going in if the bus doesn't run.

Supposed to fly out tomorrow at 7pm headed for Clearwater, FL. (Crosses fingers.) Its on the west coast of FL and only got a couple inches of rain. On the other hand, Miami to Daytona were pounded with the liquid version before the system dumped on us.

My basement will probably flood when it melts. Good stuff. :hmm:

I had a gig Saturday night and had to drive through the early stages of this in just about whiteout conditions. The Honda Element with AWD handled it flawlessly. ABS can be fun.

It was probably a good thing that they kept reporting how treacherous the roads were. They were if you were clueless how to drive in snow, which apparently many were. Otherwise it wasn't bad at all. I lucked out and didn't get stuck behind too many people for very long. Took the Mini Cooper out too and it was fine... couldn't get it stuck even when I tried.

We got around two feet here. My wife is also a bargain hunter and over the past year bought two snow blowers, both Toros, one gas, one electric, so clearing the snow in a couple of stages wasn't bad at all.

We have actually had a fair amount of snow here in the South of England which is quite unusual - I was in a white-out on Thursday night and thought I wasn't going to make it home!

Here's what my town looked like at the weekend :

My boy's at Disneyland. My schedule looks like this. Early morning high tide forces me to sleep in. In fact I'm still in bed as I'm posting this. I'll eat some breakfast, work on a little music, then at 1:00 I'm heading down to little point break called churches. I'll surf this until I'm exhausted, then come home. At this point I'll either snooze, start drinking beer, or go to the driving range. It's a tough life. ;)

Glad that moisture pushed off to the east and hit Altoona. :D

We're supposed to get some snow Christmas Eve, but with the ground temps in the 40s, it most likely won't stick.

And Maki: You suck. ;)

ah, that's right. You too are off for the holidays. Being a teacher has its perks.

CSUF gives us roughly a month and a half of vacation time. So far I've been spending most of it gigging and practicing with my band.
