So do we have flashlight geeks too?

The Surefire G2 lives next to the SIG in the night stand.

The Streamlight KeyMate lives on my keychain, but it's gotten a little glitchy. I think it needs new batts and a little contact cleaner.

The Fenix L1T is my EDC. With a tiny bolt tapped into one of the lanyard holes as a roll-stop, it's just about perfect.

I've always had a thing for the Streamlight Scorpion, but I just can't do lithium batteries anymore.

Looking to buy a flashlight.. thinking about this one - Fenix PD20. It runs on one CR123 cell. Anyone have experience with this brand at all?

Two modes of output, selected by turning the bezel

* General Mode: 9 lumens (35hrs) -> 47 lumens (6.5hrs) -> 94 lumens (2.6hrs) -> SOS

* Turbo Mode: 180 lumens (1hrs) -> Strobe

For me, the "multi-mode" Fenix models are overly complicated for an EDC light. When am I ever going to need my flashlight to flash "SOS" in Morse code? :confused:

The L1T just has normal and bright modes, without the need to cycle through a bunch of other options with clicks, twists, or pauses. It's plenty bright for my needs, and with only a AA battery to replace, it's cheap and easy to recharge. If you need extra bright, you might want a CR123 battery...maybe.

Loves me some Fenix. :cool:

I have a G2 in black, I carry it around in my messenger bag just in case. It's bright!

Surefire!

My father has done some quality control work with Surefire, so he brought us home about 20 flashlights...:D:D

My personal favorite is the 6P LED.
I like this one because it shines a super bright focused beam, but at the same time, you get a weaker broad beam that covers everything around you...
In other words, when i take it out to go walking at night, i can shine it at whatever, but the path in front of me stays illuminated as well.
There is a picture of the dual beam thing on the surefire website.

The Backup is a great flashlight to, although it eats up batteries quicker than the rest. But then again, it only needs one battery.

We have the following flashlights:
6P LED
Backup
L2 Digital Lumamax
Executive Defender
A2 Aviator
M2 Centurion

Looking to buy dad a flashlight for Christmas. I love the brightness of my surefire but it eats batteries and he will not go for that. What will last a long while, uses regular (easy to find) batteries and is not junk?
He will be using it every night when he walks his dog.
Thanks.
Mike

Check out the Fenix line or the Nitecore ones. They're a LOT cheaper than Surefires and you can get very powerful lights that run on 1 or 2 AA batteries.

If he's not going to be carrying it on his person every day, check out this one -
