The best gifts are the most functional ones (imo.)
I don't know of any women that would agree with you, my better half would say those are the words of a chauvinist pig.
It was a general statement.
And it would only be a chauvinist statement regarding the vacuum if the person making it didn't help out with the housework.
Housekeeping is for guys too dude.

Fine, then can you please explain how my saying that in my opinion a functional gift is the best?
I were to buy my partner a car, it would be chauvinist?
The way it seems is that you are the one thinking in this manner, believing that a woman would not be able to appreciate a gift that serves a purpose.
My gf loves to bake and cook but if I gave her something relating to either as a gift I would never live it down.
It is unfortunate that she wouldn't see it as you supporting her in something you know she finds enjoyment in.
It would be different if you bought her a food dehydrator to make jerky, if you were the only one who liked jerky.
Anyways, enough of this madness.
Sweet bass, ace lady.
Mine selects her own gifts that I give her and tells me about it later.
Domestic harmony ensues.
Now that's what I'm talking about. Actually, her Valentine's Day gift normally says "Dooney and Burke". The real ones from a D&B store, not that cheap eBay crap.
For our 15th anniversary, I could have paid for at least 3 of those P's! And all I got was a custom Stammie SC5.
Pretty fair deal for me, since that gift has lasted 2-3 years worth!

Beautiful!
That couldn't have been a cheap bass. How did she sneak that past you?
A vacuum cleaner, now here's gift that sucks.
