The bass itself is quite deep and thumpy - not twangy. Beware of adjusting wobbly volume pots, one of mine broke on the spindle. The intonation to the top of the neck is ok, but not 100%. It can be a feedback monster, if you're too close to your rig. Looks cool - good solid sound.

Black headstock!? Yuk! I would've hoped it would've had a matching headstock.

I quite agree about the headstock. Perhaps the 'impersonation' would have gone a bit too far !!

"loosen pots..." yes: but it is a straight simple fix: remove the knob and while keeping the shaft still, with the exagonal key tighten the bolt. It takes from 10 to 15 seconds to fix it!!!

And now... ok, ok: if the absence of "f" holes is not a big problem and you look for a beautiful, good sounding, refined 30" scale axe, then you have the Epi Rumblekat. Then if you want it with 34" scale you have even more "product" for your money....

This one of a kind Silver Star guitar plays and sounds as well as it looks, for a price that's hard to ignore. The guitar was displayed at the Winter 2010 NAMM show. Only one available, it won't last long. Don't regret passing it up.

the 0 price is because they have a distributor here in Europe Link Removed (I guess there is one also for the other side of the ocean) and they won't compete with them in this global world, I guess...

Peerless guitars here in Europe range from 400 to 1000 euro (and some more); I would guess it could be sitting at around 600, give or take something... let me make some search...

definitely not a "Walnut" but more of a beautiful "Bordeaux" to me! (Me like it very much!!!)

"on that one it's gross" maybe only because you have in mind the original White Falcon. Think about it: on basically all the hollows (except the matching headstock ones) the headstock is black.

I got a chance to hear my Classic 4 from the audience last night when another bassist sat in on a tune. Without being loud it punched right through with that flatwound thumpy goodness. I was pleased before but now I'm very pleased.

I don't think the black head stock looks bad on the white, especially if you had black hardware...kinda like a reverse tuxedo bass...anybody know what size pots are in the Classic 4's?

Ok so the bass came today...she's a beaut! Very light weight (I'm guessing around 7.5 lbs)...VERY well made...I've played other semi hollows 3 times the price of this that didn't feel this well put together. Tuners seem to be about on par with SX, not great but will do the job. Neck is very thin, but IMO the string spacing makes it much easier to play than Hofners. I need to set the pickup height because the bridge is MUCH hotter than the neck right now. Good frets, haven't found any dead spots...

I am not a big fan of the strings that came on it...I bought this second hand and the flatwounds that are on here are just not my tone...will prob switch over to some chromes (my all time favorite strings)...

It will take a few rehersals to dial in my sound with it...but I'm pleasantly surprised.

I know but I just think that it is a little strange. BTW even the site shows it as matching headstock. I'll try calling them today and see whats up.

So whats the string spacing on the classic 4 - bridge side - i had to give up on my hofner club (and many other short scales) cause theres just not any room for fingerstyle like on a p-bass. I do dig the tone and looks!

For me the problem is I reach for one string (fretting) and I hit another. Mostly cause I rarely play shortscales. I didn't have this problem on the Lakland Hollowbody I played though.

If you use Chromes, use a lighter gauge set. This bass really likes a low tension setup. You can straighten the neck enough for rounds... but some TI Jazz flats (regular scale) sound awesome on it.
