I've had two bass-related CL transactions. I sold my SX Jazz with hard shell case for $100. Not sure if the guy worked near me but he lived about 30 miles away. Tried it out - was a better player than me (if I could have gotten it to sound that good, I might not have sold it)- I think he may have wanted it for some of the bar gigs his band does in some rougher places on the North Shore. I would have definitely gone to $90 and probably would have even gone to $80; but he gave me the $100 so everyone was happy.
I bought an 80's Vantage for $100. It was easily worth $150 or more so I didn't bother to offer less. Actually, I was trying to talk him out of selling it as it was the bass he bought in high school when he had a band with his buddies, hadn't played it in 8-10 years and has little kids and didn't think he would pick it back up. I told him that playing bass with my buddies helped me keep my sanity through my kids teenage years. Anyway, the guy threw in an old metronome and tuner that he was trying to get rid of for free.
For hard or expensive to ship items like amps or drums, bicycles, or even basses - CL is a decent option especially if you are in a major metro area like I am and the OP.
